It’s been a long process but we are now commencing the strip down to the component level in preparation for its final colour in the last week of January.

Amazon Orders Over 200 Electric Trucks

Amazon has placed its largest-ever order for electric heavy goods vehicles (eHGVs), buying over 200 Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 trucks. This is the biggest single order of electric trucks in the history of Mercedes-Benz Trucks and forms part of Amazon’s aim to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.

Amazon Sustainability

The eActros 600 trucks will be used across Amazon’s high-mileage routes in its middle-mile logistics network in the UK and Germany over the next 18 months. More than 140 of the ordered trucks will operate in the UK, with the capability to transport over 300 million packages annually without emitting exhaust emissions.

Cutting-Edge Capabilities

Each eActros 600 is fitted with a high-capacity battery exceeding 600 kWh. This delivers a practical range of 310 miles (500 km) per charge under typical operating conditions. With intermediate charging during breaks, these vehicles can cover over 1,000 km daily, assuming sufficient charging infrastructure is available.

Amazon plans to install additional fast-charging stations across key UK sites, featuring 360 kW chargers that can recharge the eActros from 20% to 80% in just over an hour.

Industry Validation and Recognition

The eActros 600 has already proven its prowess, completing rigorous testing, including the 15,000-km “European Testing Tour 2024,” which spanned 22 countries. This flagship truck was also crowned “International Truck of the Year 2025” by a panel of commercial vehicle journalists.

Future Sustainability

This huge order shows the growing momentum toward sustainable transport solutions in the logistics industry. It will be interesting to see how successful the move will be.
