Before our 1958 Austin-Healey 100-6 gets delivered to its new owner, classic car technician Jonn has been doing some finishing touches to this beautiful classic.
He first attended to the non-existent washer system. After finding a suitable place to mount the bag and pump, Jonn made a bracket to support the bag etc. He then found the switched ignition feed on the fuse box and routed the wiring along the bulkhead and into the car.
He then mounted the switch in the dash and ran the wire back through the bulkhead to the pump. Jonn Earthed out the pump on the frame and ran the washer pipe into the car.
Jonn drilled out the bulkhead scuttle panel and mounted the centre washer jet and connected it. He then topped up the washers and tested them.
Finally, Jonn removed and cleaned the spark plugs, wiped over the car, fitted the roof, ran the car up to temperature and was happy with the vehicle.
Jon is currently carrying out the pre delivery inspection on our 1958 Austin Healey 100-6.
He has secured both front seat bases as the bolts were missing in the frames. Tighten and test and all ok.
He has drained approximately 3 litres of coolant and replenish with anti freeze.
He has slackened the handbrake cable and removed the clevis pin from linkage. He has adjusted the cable end and re-attached, fitted new clevis pin and split pin.
Attend to both door check straps.
Tighten hinge pin and nuts and fit new clevis pins to strap with washer and new split pins.
Trace dash illumination as we have found that it is not working, king to switch under dash. All working now.
Just needs fuel gauge, washers and road test to finish.
John has fitted an electronic rev counter to our Austin Healey and rewired it from positive earth to negative earth.
Changing the wiring on the fuel pump and also the battery.
Classic car technician Jonn has been putting the UK plates on our 1958 Austin-Healey 100/6.
He measured, drilled, and painted the brackets before securing them on the car. Both the front and back number plates were then fitted.

Recently imported from South Africa at the start of 2023, the car has gone through a recommission by the Bridge Classic Cars team which included a full brake system rebuild as well as some mechanical jobs to get this wonderful classic ready for its new home.
During its time in South Africa, the car took part in several grand-touring rallies and drive-outs including most recently in the 2022 running of the Cape 1000.
The vehicle comes with a full UK registration, 742XWA, as well as several folders of workshop manuals and dating letters and certificates from the Austin-Healey Club and the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust.
Our 1957 Austin-Healey 100-6 has been with Bridge Classic Cars workshop manager, John as he resolves a few issues with the vehicle before it goes live on Bridge Classic Cars Competitions in the very near future.
As you can see from the photos below, John has been working on various components in preparation for it to be won.
Classic car technician Jonn has continued his work on our 1957 Austin-Healey 100-6 as it will soon be available to win through Bridge Classic Cars Competitions.
After finishing some diagnostic work, Jonn fitted a new nut to the drag link ball joint on the offside of the vehicle. Once this was done, both ends were checked and were found to be secure.
As well as some work on the suspension, Jonn also noticed that the flexi brake hose has been rubbing. Workshop Manager John was also working on our classic Austin Healey as he was rectifying an electrical issue.
One of the newest additions to the Bridge Classic Cars workshop is our 1957 Austin Healey 100-6. Coming to us from a good friend of ours in South Africa, this beautiful classic will eventually go on to be a competition car through Bridge Classic Cars Competitions.
However, before that happens, classic car technician Tom has been hard at work inspecting and assessing the car as well as repairing and replacing various issues and parts found along the way.
Our 1957 Austin Healey 100-6 hasn’t long been in the Bridge Classic Cars workshop following its long trip over to us from South Africa.
However, classic car technician Tom has already been hard at work inspecting and assessing the beautiful car in preparation for it to eventually be won through Bridge Classic Cars Competitions.
A container recently arrived at the Bridge Classic Cars workshop with a collection of cars that have made their way to us all the way from South Africa.
Our special delivery included our 1957 Austin Healey 100-6 and our 1970 Lotus Europa. Both of these are currently going through a workshop assessment and inspection before going on to be available to win through Bridge Classic Cars Competitions soon.
Also in the container was our 1935 Bentley Van Den Plas Saloon which will soon be going up for sale.
We have been very busy sourcing some beautiful classic cars recently. Next in line to come into the workshop is our racing Austin Healey 3000 which will go on to be won through Bridge Classic Cars Competitions.
We are very much looking forward to seeing this stunning car arrive at the workshop all the way from South Africa, and it will no doubt be a popular competition car in the very near future.
