Reassembling our 1969 Audi 70L

The Bridge Classic Cars team have been busy getting our ultra-rare 1969 Audi 70L back together following its complete repaint by our incredible in-house paint and body team. The team have even fitted new piping in the wings of the classic German saloon car as well as all new rubber gromits through out the car.

Sanding

Chris continued the preparation work on our 1969 Audi 70L by sanding the polyfan to a 120-grit finish. He then reapplied the guide coat and began refining the surface further by sanding it to 180 grit, ensuring a consistent and even base for the next stages of the restoration.

Primer

Chris continued with the body preparation on our 1969 Audi 70L by applying a full guide coat and sanding the car to a 180-grit finish, bringing it to a stage ready for primer. He also removed the fabric lining from the boot, thoroughly cleaned away all remaining adhesive, and prepared the area for epoxy primer. […]

Preparation for epoxy

Chris removed the remaining fabric from the boot area of our 1969 Audi 70L and thoroughly cleaned away all traces of old adhesive. He then prepared the surface for epoxy primer and applied rust stabiliser to any pitted sections to ensure a sound base for the next stage of work.

Paint preparation

Mauro has now completed the filler work on our 1969 Audi 70L. The next stage in the process will be the application of polyfan. Prepping our Audi

Mauro continued work on our 1969 Audi 70L by carrying out preparation to the door shut areas. He then completed filler work on the roof to refine its surface and began applying filler to the front wing in readiness for further shaping.

Prepping for primer

Chris continued work on our 1969 Audi 70L by preparing the doors and bonnet for primer. This involved filling and fairing the panels to achieve a smooth and even surface, ensuring they were ready for the next stage of the refinishing process.

Priming our Audi

Chris carried out filling and fairing work on the doors and bonnet of our 1969 Audi 70L to achieve a smooth, even surface. He welded up an existing hole, then carefully ground it back before applying epoxy primer to the area.

Stripping our Audi

Chris has removed the steering rack of our 1969 Audi 70L before removing more rust. He then masked it up and applied epoxy primer to the roof and engine bay. Gregg has also made a new piece for the bottom of one of the doors before fitting it.
