Jonn carried out a pre-delivery inspection on our 1977 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider. As part of the process, he tightened the connections to the number plate lights and resecured the centre console, gluing the trim back into place. He also bonded the offside quarter light handle back onto the window. The tyres were inflated to […]
Chris progressed work on our 1988 Volkswagen Golf GTI by bringing the rear left wing and the back of the car up to primer stage.
John carried out a thorough test of our 1964 Daimler 2.5 V8 and confirmed that everything was functioning correctly. The squeak previously reported by the customer was identified as a brake-related noise, which John believes is coming from the handbrake pads. Additionally, it was noted that the radiator overflow pipe was missing, so a new […]
Here at Bridge Classic Cars, we’re all petrolheads – doesn’t matter what generation we’re from. From classic Ford’s and Mini’s all the way up to relatively new Golf GTi’s and Ford ST’s, we can’t help but be passionate about what fuels us. Just like our technician Steve. Steve, one of our restoration technicians, has been […]
We welcomed a pair of new arrivals to the Bridge Classic Cars restoration workshop over the weekend. A boxer-engined BMW motorcycle and a classic Jaguar E-Type, both of which will be checked over by our restoration technicians to get back into their former glories. 1967 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 Coupe: 2002 BMW R1150RS:
Tony delivered our Ford Transit MK2 back to its owner.
Adam began the initial stage of gapping on our 1969 Aston Martin DB6 Volante, working towards achieving a consistent 3mm gap throughout. At this point, some areas still require adjustment, and it has been noted that in certain sections, additional metal will need to be added to reach the desired tolerance.
Tony collected our Jaguar E-type series 3 from Coltec where it had been undergoing some engine work.
Jonn fitted the panel in the boot of our 1987 Mercedes 500 SL to conceal the fuel tank. As the bolts wouldn’t start, he tapped out all the holes to ensure proper fitment and cut several bolts down to the correct length before securing the panel in place. He then refitted the nearside door window […]
Chris loaded our 1988 Volkswagen Golf GTI into the paint booth, carried out the masking process, and applied the primer coat.
The rust on our Golf GTI has been investigated, and work has begun to resolve the issues.
Jonn worked through the list of customer concerns on our 1964 Daimler 2.5 V8, beginning by tightening and adjusting the interior mirror. He then carried out a visual inspection of the engine from cold, where a small trace of coolant was observed around the inlet manifold and distributor mount. A pressure test of the cooling […]
Jonn investigated an oil leak on our 1993 Ford Escort XR3i, with the source suspected to be the inlet camshaft sensor. He removed the sensor and inspected the O-ring seal, which was found to have gone flat. Using the seal kit, he made a new O-ring, applied grease, and refitted the sensor securely. The electrical […]
Put bits back on the car ?????? (Sorry Rob not sure what to do with that one!)
Geoff has prepped the Jensen interceptor for its first layer of undercoat.
Jonn carried out a full lights and levels check on our 2007 Land Rover Range Rover Vogue. He adjusted the tyre pressures to 36 psi at the front and 42 psi at the rear. However, he was unable to inflate the spare tyre as the rear luggage compartment was fully loaded, preventing access. Despite performing […]
Adam has prepared the backs of the doors on our 1969 Aston Martin DB6 Volante in blue back to bare metal. During this process, he identified areas requiring repair, which will be addressed prior to the application of epoxy to ensure a sound and properly finished surface. Adam successfully fitted the doors on our 1969 […]
Jonn checked fluid levels on our 1947 Wolseley Eight and topped up the engine oil. On inspection, the fuel in the filter appeared dirty and showed signs of water contamination. He used the car’s fuel pump to begin emptying the tank but, after disconnecting the pipe and switching the ignition on, no fuel was coming […]
Jonn continued work on our 1987 Mercedes 500 SL by fitting the window seals, carefully cutting and shaping them to ensure a precise fit. During the process, the window channel runner detached from the glass, which he then bonded securely back into position before refitting. Next Jonn carried out preparation work on our 1987 Mercedes […]
Greg identified that the front right lower control arm bushing on our 1993 Ford Escort XR3i is failing and noted that the front disc brakes require replacement. He also addressed a rust hole in the centre muffler, which he was able to repair with a weld. Additionally, the front speakers were replaced.
Jonn continued setting up the accelerator on our 1959 Austin Healey 3000 in line with the provided instructions. He repositioned the rod to the carburettors and achieved the best possible result, although a slight amount of play remains in all the ball and socket rods. A test confirmed the setup seems satisfactory, with throttle response […]
Jonn was unable to source the correct coolant header tank for our 1978 MG Midget 1500, so he modified the one available and refitted it. He carried out a test fit and fabricated a new strap to secure the tank in place. As the tank sits close to the radiator, he made a small bracket […]
Mauro stripped the Mini ready to start body work.
John refitted the driver’s carpet on our 1972 Triumph Stag as neatly as possible. The roof catches were repaired to eliminate free play and subsequently adjusted for proper engagement. He also repositioned the door sticker to achieve a better fit. The movement in the roof catches was addressed as part of the adjustments.
John refitted the exhaust on our 1972 Triumph Stag following its repair, using new rubbers to secure it in place.
Jonn continued work on our 1959 Austin Healey 3000 with the arrival of the throttle bar bushes. He used trimmed P-clips to secure the new bushes within the existing brackets and determined the most effective method for mounting before proceeding with fitting them back onto the car. The rod position on the end of the […]
Tony packed up our 1968 Austin Mini Cooper S to be delivered to the lucky winner Derek Brooks.
Lydia has been carefully fitting carpets for our 1976 Jensen Interceptor.
