Having searched high and low for information to help me match the material from my front seats, I have finally made a break through.
A chance conversation with the guys at LandyPart when my car was in for it’s MOT I found out that there are options on the market.
They suggested I have a chat with Exmoor Trim who apparently really know their stuff with regards to Land Rovers. Sure enough, they do. Jess got right back to me asking for pictures of my seats, she then told me exactly what material it was and that they can supply me with exactly what I want to fit out the back.
Next job, I need to remove the rear wooden box section to reveal the arches and we can then progress with my plans from there…

Sometimes we work on projects and never actually get to see the car. Take our recent Renault Clio seat repair. The seat arrived to us minus a car, we carried out the work required and the seat went back home.
On this occasion, the customer was kind enough to send us in some images of the car throughout the stages of repair so we got to see what work has been done on her. It’s lovely to see the projects and to know that we had a hand in bringing them back to life.
Fitting inner glovebox top section and outer panel. We have glued the vinyl to the bottom section, fitting hinges to the glovebox lid, fitted lock to the lid before fitting lid to the glovebox outer panel.
Brian has also made up the leather door straps, glued leather together ready to be sewn and bolted leather straps to the door panels.
John has also bee fixing a water leak in the engine. Water way blanking stud is missing so he has made up a new one and fit.

Today the interior was refitted; seats, seat belts and boot areas that were removed for metalwork/welding. On refitting the passenger seat, we found the back rest bolts had worked loose and fallen out, these were refitted with thread lock to stop them coming undone again.
As you can see, Brian and Lydia have been working together to fit the rear edge of the inner liner to the rear bar of the frame. The zip section to the rear bar, rear window have now been fitted and the rubber seal to the bottom of window. The rubber seal to rear edge of the car has now been bolted in.
The cover was too tight so we have adjusted the front edge of the hood cover, glued in the flap to the frame and fitted metal bars into the rear side edges of hood cover. The cover along the rear bar of the frame has been adjusted and we’ll leave the cover on overnight to stretch.

Lydia and Brian have welcomed in our Rover 216 Cabriolet for a new hood to be fitted. The hood comprises of an outer layer, middle section and roof lining which will all be replaced as part of the project.
So far, the front section of the hood cover and headliner have been removed, as well as the rear roof metal sections and padded inner lining.
The old door cards had been finished to a poor standard and Lydia felt were not fit for purpose.
She has cleaned off the old door cards and removed foam that had been incorrectly and poorly stuck down. New vinyl was cut and laminated onto scrim foam. This meant that the stitched design now stood out well from the rest of the vinyl , without looking garish like the previous design.
She then applied the new vinyl to the panels and cleaned off my pencil marks.
More work continues to be completed on the interior of our 1958 Jensen 541R.
Lydia has been extremely busy fitting the rear squab seat cover onto its frame. Once she had done this, her attention turned to the rear base. After carefully measuring the material, Lydia cut out the pieces of leather and vinyl she needed before sewing them together.
After sewing everything together, she then went on to create the foam frame.
The cover was glued and stapled onto the newly made frame before Lydia could take a moment to take in her handy work.
It wasn’t long before Lydia was back to work though – binding carpet edges and sewing vinyl and carpet together (and piping them) for the door cards.
In addition to this, Brian has been working on the dash panel, glovebox, door panels, and kick pads which have also been made, ready to be installed into the car in the very near future.
The window trims have also been covered in vinyl as the interior work on the 541R makes some good progress. You can see this progress for yourself from the impressive haul of photos below.

With new paintwork and new seats, it was time for the internal floor of our 1958 Jensen 541R to get some attention.
Some fairly tricky areas needed new carpet so a variety of patterns and templates were needed to make sure everything fit perfectly in the car.
As work continues on this beautiful classic car, both the exterior and the interior have come a long way since the car first arrived at our workshop. With work continuing at a steady pace, the 1958 Jensen 541R is certainly making some good progress as it continues on its restoration journey.

The 1958 Jensen 541R has already come a long way since its arrival at the Bridge Classic Cars workshop in Suffolk. With recent work being completed on the front and rear seats, attention turned to the leather that would be covering the interior bodywork.
The material selected perfectly complements the dark blue interior that the finished 541R will have. This also pairs nicely with the metallic body and lobelia blue roof that the paint team gave the Jensen a few weeks ago.
Skilfully cutting out the templates to ensure the leather was ready to be installed before glueing them into position takes a bit of time and patience – something that our classic car technicians have in vast quantities.
The finished job has an impressive look and perfectly fits in with the work completed so far on this classic car.

Lydia has now started work on the rear squabs on our 1958 Jensen 541R. the same techniques used on the front seats will be used on the rear so any existing leatherwork will be used to make up new templates or new templates will be drawn up by hand to help make the rear seats.
Lydia is now sewing up the leatherwork to make the shape required and the foams are also be cut and fitted to the base boards.

The roof bars have now been removed to make way for the new foam to be glued and fitted. The bars, covered in the correct material are then screwed back into position. The headlining is then positioned and carefully glued around the edges before being tightened and secured. Finally, access is gained in the new material for the interior light wiring.

After that, Lydia could work on getting the handmade seat pockets attached onto the back of the front seats before trimming the hoop base and fitted it to the underside of the seat back.

The 1958 Jensen 541R has been having more pieces of its interior made by the Bridge Classic Cars trim team but this time with some unique and personal touches.
The rear seat bases of the classic Jensen have been completely stripped back for the team to inspect and take measurements for the rarely seen fluting of the material which will be carried over onto the new pieces.
Lydia has carefully measured and tested to get the spacing and symmetry of the fluting just right before committing it to the final material. The whole seat base has been entirely made for scratch including the foams and underpinnings specifically to fit the car.
This is a wonderful little touch and something a bit different and unique for this very special car.

The team have removed the seat base from the car in order to repair the stitching which has come apart. The hardtop from the 1991 Mercedes 300SL has been moved into the Bridge Classic Cars trim shop to be repaired.
The removable hardtop had begun to come apart at the edges in several places so the team have worked their magic on rejuvenating the roof.
First off, the entire piece was stripped back in order to remove any old adhesives and allow for the team to create a better fit. The better fitting of parts also meant the team removed the pillar trims to pull the pieces tighter into the trims.
Wit that the trim team could then work on the headliner by removing the original material and then sanding back the misshapen foams. After that, the team have then replaced the headliner material before putting the entire assembly back together and put the hardtop on its holder ready to go back on the car.

Next, Lydia began by stripping back the original glovebox on the car to be prepared and readied to be refinished to the rest of the interior.

While the Bridge Classic Cars workshop team have been working on the mechanical side of the 1984 Lada 1200, our in-house trim shop took the opportunity to repair one of the seats.
The rear of the seat base had developed several tears in the material, so our trimmer Lydia began by removing the seat cover and inspecting the damage. While apart, Lydia put a new layer of modern foam on top of the seat foam for added comfort.
Then, using small pieces from the underside of the seat she carefully put them into place covering the holes while also repairing some of the piping that surrounds the base.
