Working On Our TR6

Classic car technician Jonn has been working on our 1973 Triumph TR6 which will soon be available to win through Bridge Classic Cars Competitions.

Jonn fitted new cold start cables and looked at the fast idle speed cable too.

Condition Appraisal

Our 1989 BMW 325I has been undergoing a condition appraisal with Bridge Classic Cars workshop manager John.

As you can see from the photos below, there are some areas that need attention. We look forward to the car coming back to us so we can get it looking as good as new again.

Another New Arrival

A second new arrival has entered the Bridge Classic Cars workshop today in the form of another BMW 325i. This time though it is a 1989 model to alongside our other 325i from 2001 which is also in the workshop.

This particular BMW 325i is in for a condition appraisal from our team of classic car technicians.

Almost Ready

Classic car technician Jonn has continued his work on our 1957 Austin-Healey 100-6 as it will soon be available to win through Bridge Classic Cars Competitions.

After finishing some diagnostic work, Jonn fitted a new nut to the drag link ball joint on the offside of the vehicle. Once this was done, both ends were checked and were found to be secure.

As well as some work on the suspension, Jonn also noticed that the flexi brake hose has been rubbing. Workshop Manager John was also working on our classic Austin Healey as he was rectifying an electrical issue.

Getting Ready For Competition

Our 2020 AK 427 has been in the care of classic car technician Jonn as he has begun his work to get it ready to be won through Bridge Classic Cars Competitions.

During Jonn’s initial inspection, he noticed that the sump gasket was split and weeping. This was due to it being overtightened, so this was something Jonn resolved. The top hose was modified before a new J hose was modified and installed.

Another issue to be resolved is the alternator support bracket rubbing the water pump pulley. Chris from the paintshop also came through to the main workshop to check the paint colour ready for some paint repairs to be made.

Off For An MOT

Since being in the Bridge Classic Cars workshop, our 2001 Ford Cougar has gone for an MOT today. Looking back on its history, it looks like it should have no issues passing as it seems to have been well cared for.

While with us, along with the work classic car technician Steve did on its brakes, it has also had its wheels refurbished and some work completed on its electrics.

It won’t be much longer until our Cougar drives out of the workshop and heads back out on the road.

Cougar Brakes

Classic car technician Steve has been looking at the corroded brake discs on our Ford Cougar. After removing the corroded discs, new pads and discs were fitted to both the front and rear of the car.

Getting Our TR6 Ready To Be Won

Our 1973 Triumph TR6 will soon be going live on Bridge Classic Cars Competitions. Before that happens though, classic car technician Jonn has been checking it over to make sure everything is ready for its lucky new owner.

Part of Jonn’s work included getting all of the rear lights working, replacing the aftermarket steering wheel with a more period-correct one, and getting the stereo loom ready for the stereo to be fitted.

The stereo was then fitted and tested and found to be working as expected. Jonn went on to adjust the handbrake as well as fitting new door locks on both sides. A new clutch pedal anti-slip pad was fitted too.

Complete And Gone Home

Our 1981 Austin Morris Mini 998 wasn’t with us very long, but classic car technician Jonn completed the appropriate repairs before waving it goodbye as it returned to its owner.

While working on the car, Jonn noticed that the engine oil level was low so this was topped up. The radiator was also topped up. Jonn then went on to remove the carb pistons and chambers so he could inspect and set them.

The jet depth was measured with a vernier so Jonn could adjust accordingly.

Once Jonn had finished working on our classic Mini, it was time to say goodbye as it left the Bridge Classic Cars workshop.

New In – 1981 Austin Morris Mini 998

We have recently welcomed our 1981 Austin Morris Mini 998 into the Bridge Classic Cars workshop. While it is with us, our team of technicians will be working on the carbs, as well as investigating a noise that the owner has heard coming from the car.

It will also undergo a full appraisal before leaving us.

We love a classic Mini so we are very pleased to have one as good-looking as this with us.

Getting Competition Ready

One of the newest additions to the Bridge Classic Cars workshop is our 1957 Austin Healey 100-6. Coming to us from a good friend of ours in South Africa, this beautiful classic will eventually go on to be a competition car through Bridge Classic Cars Competitions.

However, before that happens, classic car technician Tom has been hard at work inspecting and assessing the car as well as repairing and replacing various issues and parts found along the way.

Working On Our Clyno

Classic car technician Steve has been working on our 1926 Clyno to help get it back out on the road.

Newly relined brake shoes were fitted before Steve noticed that a manifold gasket was leaking. 2 gaskets ended up being removed and replaced.

Assessing A Future Competition Car

Classic car technician Jonn has been assessing our 1976 TVR 2500M in preparation for it to soon go live on the Bridge Classic Cars Competitions website.

Jonn set up the jet depths and noticed that there was debris in the float bowls. Once this was sorted, the inspection could continue. Jonn was happy that all the brakes are in good condition which means that our classic TVR is one step closer to being won by its new owner very soon.

An Injured Morris Minor Returns

Our 1960 Morris Minor is returning to the workshop following an unfortunate bump.

While parked at home, this beautiful classic was hit by a passing vehicle causing damage to various parts. Amazingly, this is actually the second time the car has experienced this type of accident. Back in 2021, we welcomed it back into the workshop for similar repairs.

Once our classic Morris Minor arrives with us, our team of classic car technicians will assess the damage before putting a plan in place to repair it and get it back to its owner as soon as possible.

Back For A Service

Our 1991 Volkswagen Transporter T4 has returned to the Bridge Classic Cars workshop for a full service. Classic car technician Jonn has been checking it over and has found some issues that he is working to resolve.

One of the wheel cylinders is seized and one of the wheel rims is badly cracked. Jonn cleaned a calliper before noting that the brake pipe to the offside rear wheel cylinder is seized.

A new pipe and ends were made to fit before Jonn had to untwist the driver’s seatbelt. The foglight earth wasn’t connected so this was connected to the slam panel earth. Once this was done, the foglights were working as they should. Finally, Jonn fitted new belts to our T4.

A Closer Look At A Pre-War Classic

Our 1926 Clyno has been in the care of classic car technician Steve as he has been inspecting the vehicle to see what work needs to be completed while it is here with us in the Bridge Classic Cars workshop.

Steve noticed that the wire from the nearside rear light is corroded and the offside front shackle grease nipple is missing.

Work will start on resolving these issues, and any others that arise along the way very soon.

A Finished Service And Going Home

Since our 1935 Wolseley Super Hornet Special arrived at the Bridge Classic Cars workshop, classic car technician Steve has been giving it a full service. This has continued with Steve finding that the bottom of the carburettor was leaking and a new gasket kit was needed. There was also play in both track rod ends but this has been adjusted and resolved.

Steve stripped the carburettors ready for them to be cleaned and the new gaskets fitted. The owner of the car had found the timing advance linkage on the floor of their garage. Steve fitted this back onto the car in preparation for it to return home. New points, condenser, and rotor arm were also fitted.

As our 1935 Wolseley Super Hornet Special gets ready to leave us in the next day or two, we are enjoying admiring it in the workshop for as long as we can.

Servicing A Classic

Classic car technician Steve has been servicing our 1935 Wolseley Super Hornet Special. It only arrived in the last couple of days but Steve has already got straight to work.

Multiple grease nipples were greased, and the brakes were checked, cleaned, and adjusted. Steve went on to put new engine oil in and replace the spark plugs. The gearbox and diff oils were also replaced as part of the service.

A Classic Arrival

Earlier this week, we welcomed a very ‘special’ classic vehicle into the Bridge Classic Cars Workshop. Our 1935 Wolseley Super Hornet Special has arrived with us for a service.

We have had several older vehicles in the workshop lately and this is another that adds to that collection.

As you can see from the photos below, this is a beautiful car that has clearly been well looked after and loved throughout its life.

Getting To Work On Our SS100

Classic car technician Jonn has been starting work on our very special 1939 Jaguar SS100. His investigation was centred around some of the issues the owner of this beautiful classic car has reported to us.

Jonn also removed the stickers that have been placed on the car throughout its life. The removal was done with a heat gun after Jonn had taped the area to protect it. These have all been kept in a folder which will be returned to the owner to help keep a record of the history of this special Jaguar.

Workshop manager John also worked on our SS100 by repairing the wiper motor.

Blowing Fuses

The door mirrors and interior lights of our 1994 Daimler Double Six keep blowing fuses so, classic car technician John has been investigating what could be causing the issue.

John stripped down the door panel to remove the switch. Once the switch was removed, signs of corrosion were found so John dismantled and cleaned it before re-fitting.

Boxter Splitter

A 2013 Porsche Boxter, that has been with us before, made a brief return to the Bridge Classic Cars workshop recently. It was here so that classic car technician Jonn could fit a front splitter, that the customer had supplied.

Jonn, with a bit of help from workshop manager John, got the splitter on the car and it was soon back home with its owner.

Servicing Our Competition MGB

Classic car technician Jonn has been conducting a service on our 1980 MGB GT in preparation for it to be won through Bridge Classic Cars Competitions.

While servicing the car, he found the fuel sender was faulty and, upon removal, he noticed that the fuel hose from the sender was not a fuel-specific hose and, consequently, split as it was removed.

Jonn removed the fuel sender before fitting and wiring in a new one.
