Out & About – Taking the 1974 Alfa Romeo Spider Out For Lunch with Friends

The Bridge Classic Cars team had a lunch meeting with some friends of ours who turned up in a beautiful 911SC and a Mercedes R129, so we decided to take the perfect summer car. Our 1974 Alfa Romeo Spider

The Alfa Romeo Spider will be won tonight and is ready for its next owner to enjoy the summer weather. The team popped down to our local, the always good Ufford Crown. This gave the team a chance to stretch the legs of the wonderful drop-top classic Alfa ahead of its draw.

One After Another – Working on the 1979 Arrow Ferrari Daytona

The restoration team at the Bridge Classic Cars Suffolk HQ have been working on making progress on several key jobs to do with the 1979 Arrow Ferrari Daytona.

After fitting the heater matrix in the classic Daytona replica our technician, Scott, hand made a new demister plenum specifically for the car. This had to be put into place for Scott to begin working on testing and measuring for the pedal box of the car.

Scott took his measurements for pedal placements and widths to modify the pedals themselves to make them exacting replicas of original Daytona pieces. While the pedals and lever themselves were being modified, Scott cleaned up the entire pedal box assembly and preparing the clutch and brake master cylinders along with the brake servo to be sent off to a local specialist to be refurbished for the project.

And Then There Was Light – New Glovebox Light in the 1970 Bristol 411

The Bridge Classic Cars in-house trim team have upgraded the hand-made glovebox for the left-hand drive converted 1970 Bristol 411.

The glovebox has had a new lighting system installed into the car to take into account the change over in drivers sides. The team carefully cut the opening for the system to be installed flush and cleanly into the one-off Bristol 411.

Delicate Touch – Painting the Iconic Coach Stripe on the 1969 Bentley T1

The iconic coach stripe which adorns the lengths of many classic Bentley’s has been applied to the 1969 Bentley T1 by the Bridge Classic Cars in-house paint team.

Chris, one of our painters, carefully measured and masked the coach lines along the T1. The whole car was then safely covered in order to lay down the correct vivid yellow stripe which runs underneath the brightwork.

The paint was then given enough time to cure in our in-house booth/oven before the car was moved into the preparation area to be finished and polished.

Support – Repairing the Inner Wings of the 1969 Morris Minor Convertible

The fabrication team at Bridge Classic Cars have been busy repairing the inner wing structure of the 1969 Morris Minor Convertible.

Our fabricator Monty has been sympathetically repairing the classic Morris and paying close attention to structural areas of the car but also play a key role in the aesthetics. This point of the inner wing also ties into the core support and the mounts for the front wings which will allow the panels to be refit by our body shop team with perfect alignment. Previously, the panel which was in place allowed for a significant amount of flex and movement which unless rectified can cause issues for the body team when it comes to fitting the car back together.

This Just In – 1985 Porsche 911

Today, the Bridge Classic Cars workshop team at our Suffolk restoration HQ welcomed this beautiful 1985 Porsche 911SC.

The car, finished in black with a black/red interior, will go through our various restoration teams in order to be completely inspected and assessed to then compile their report on the mechanical and aesthetic condition of this classic aircooled Porsche.

Clear View – New Wipers on the 2016 Range Rover Sport

The 2016 Land Rover Range Rover Sport belonging to our director Gordon has popped into the workshop recently to replace the wiper blades front and rear.

Since the current cold snap, he noticed the wipers weren’t clearing the screen as they should so a new set were ordered up and fitted by the workshop at Bridge Classic Cars.

Key Pieces – Repairs on the 1969 Morris Minor Convertible

The 1969 Morris Minor Convertible has been in the Bridge Classic Cars fabrication shop to have the necessary repairs carried out to the body and parts of the structure beneath the car.

The fabrication shop has been meticulous but also sympathetic to the process in order to make the car not only aesthetical right but structurally sound and secure for our body teams to work from to refine and perfect the beautiful shape of a classic Morris Minor.

Multiple areas of corrosion in key locations were discovered and repaired using the best methods possible and only sympathetically focusing on those specific areas which had been affected.

First Fit – Beginning the New 1979 Arrow Ferrari Daytona Carpet Set

The in-house trim shop at Bridge Classic Cars have begun the process of creating the one-off carpet set for the 1979 Arrow Ferrari Daytona.

Our trimmer Lydia has been working on the project to create the bespoke carpets. To begin with, she took the original carpets which were removed from the car during its teardown at the start of the project and laid them back into the car to create a layout and map of which panels needed to be bound and where but also this was done to refine the sizes of each piece to create a final product as close to an original Daytona interior as possible.

Once the pieces had been laid out, they were taken upstairs to our in-house trim shop to be transferred onto the new carpet material. Finished in dark green with matching edging. The original pieces were used as templates and refined to get the best fit into the Daytona.

The largest piece was for the rear of the Arrow, these were test fit into the car to take into account the many recesses and compartments particular to Arrow Daytonas.

Progress – Body Repairs to the 1978 MGB GT Continue

The restoration team at Bridge Classic Cars have made good progress on the body repairs to the 1978 MGB GT which is in for restoration.

The team have been systematically and methodically working through the classic sports car to get the shell into the best shape possible before it is taken into our body team to be refinished further.

Rob, one of our technicians, has been carefully removing any areas of the car which hold any current or questionable corrosion and replacing them with replacement panels or hand fabricated patch panels to ensure that the whole car is back to being in solid metal.

Included in that, is reskinning the doors. The outer skin on one particular door had become heavily corroded but the frame it was attached to was in solid condition. So, Rob carefully removed the old skin and fit up the new replacement stamping which will be welded in and finished.

Piece Together – Interior Pieces for the 1955 Jensen 541

The Bridge Classic Cars in-house trim team have been continuing on the hand-made one-off interior for the 1959 Jensen 541R Princess Grey.

Lydia has been working on getting the centre console and rear seats finished up for this particular 541R. Finished in all matching red, this interior for Princess Grey is going to look absolutely incredible when back in the car.

Each piece has been individually cut, stitched and finished to ensure the best possible fit and final result for the classic Jensen.

This Just In – 2007 Jaguar XKR

This gorgeous 2007 Jaguar XKR has just arrived at the Bridge Classic Cars Suffolk HQ to go into our restoration workshop.

The car will be going through our various in-house departments to be inspected and assessed to compile their report on the condition of this future classic and see if anything needs doing to the big supercharged Jaguar.

All By Hand – Hand Stitching Dash Pieces for the 1970 Bristol 411

The trim team at Bridge Classic Cars have been working alongside the workshop team on the left-hand-drive conversion of the 1970 Bristol 411.

In the last update, we showed you getting the dash panel pieces test fit into the car but our trimmer Lydia took some detailed photos showing the process of hand-cutting and stitching these beautiful black leather pieces together to make the final covers.

Headed Home – 2015 Ford Mustang Heads Home from Storage

The wonderful 2015 Ford Mustang GT which has been stored at our secure storage facility, The Hangar, over the winter is heading home for the summer months to be enjoyed by its owner.

The car has been with us for a few months during the wet, cold months at our classic and collectable car storage location where it has been looked after and maintained by the team in preparation for the dawn of summer to come. Now, with that day finally here. The car was brought out of storage to be cleaned, prepared and ready for its owner to collect.

It’s sad to see it go but we hope to see the Mustang back soon to join the other wonderful cars that we have in our secure storage facility.

Out & About – 1972 Jaguar E-Type Used in a Wedding

This stunning 1972 Jaguar E-Type, which was restored and recommissioned by the Bridge Classic Cars team, took pride of place on a very special day recently.

The car, which belongs to our friend Ben, was used in a special wedding recently and what a perfect choice of classic car to be used for such an occasion. The car, which was rebuilt and recommissioned by the restoration teams here at our Suffolk HQ, looked absolutely magnificent as it always does.

On An Adventure – 1973 Triumph TR6 Begins Its Road Trip

The 1973 Triumph TR6 that has been restored by us here at Bridge Classic Cars has begun its newest adventure.

The Magenta TR6 was built for our friend Stephen Norman by our restoration workshop who recently came to our Suffolk HQ to test and shakedown the car ahead of its use on his planned holiday.

The car was delivered by us just outside of Folkstone where its owner awaited the arrival of this very special classic TR6. The car is going to be road tripped to the South of France for several week’s holiday, taking in the sights and sounds of a beautiful holiday in one of the most stunning locations in Europe.

Safe travels! and we can’t wait to see the TR6 enjoying the sun.

This Just In – 1959 Jensen 541R

The Bridge Classic Cars restoration workshop at our Suffolk HQ have welcomed this beautiful 1959 Jensen 541R for our teams to carry out a series of jobs for its owner.

Apart from its stunning colour combination, this is a beautiful example of the 541R and the teams are looking forward to sorting out a few niggles on the car which the owner has highlighted. Due to our long history of working on and refining the 541 family, the car will be gone through by our restoration teams to update certain aspects of the car and to also make sure its original features work perfectly and look perfect.

Behind the Scenes – Photoshoot with the 1993 Rover Mini Sprite

After having its inspection and being given a clean bill of health by the Bridge Classic Cars restoration workshop, it was time to pull our latest Bridge Classic Cars Competitions prize out and shoot some photos of it.

That’s right, the next competition from Bridge Classic Cars is this beautiful 1993 Rover Mini Sprite. An iconic and well adored classic that almost everyone has a connection to in some way or another. The happy little 1275cc 4-cylinder buzzes along and the sound from the stainless steel sports exhaust bounced off the trees and concrete angles at our secure storage facility as it was taken over to our shooting location.

The tiny wheelbase and wider wheels, thanks to its upgrade to the later Sportback specification, allowed the bright white classic Mini to change direction and talk back to the driver. Letting them know exactly what was going on beneath them.

Now Sold – Our 1999 Alfa Romeo Spider Twin Spark Sold on MyClassics

The 1999 Alfa Romeo Spider Twin Spark arrived late last week to Bridge Classic Cars and has already sold!

The car was listed for sale on our classic and collector car online sales platform MyClassics and within a few hours, the car had been sold.

Fourth Donation – Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal TVR S2

The team at Bridge Classic Cars Competitions have sent over the latest donation from our 1989 TVR S2 competition which is in aid of the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.

The total is now £31,000 which will be going directly to help support those who have been affected and displaced by the conflict unfolding across Ukraine. Every penny from this competition will be donated to the appeal and help the people of Ukraine.

Delivering the Dream – The 1959 MG A Twin Cam at Its New Home

The team at Bridge Classic Cars Competitions have delivered the 1959 MGA Twin Cam to its excited new owner, Peter.

Peter won the MGA Twin Cam through Bridge Classic Cars Competitions and as part of every competition, we deliver their dream classic directly to their door. With such a special car, the team wanted to go along and capture the moment where the enclosed trailer ramp was dropped, and Peter saw his classic MGA Twin Cam for the first time.

Dry Fit – Checking the Fitment of the Dash on the 1970 Bristol 411

The trim team at Bridge Classic Cars have been working on test fitting the new dash panels of the 1970 Bristol 411 into the car as part of its left-hand-drive conversion by the team at our restoration workshops.

Brian, one of our trimmers, has been working alongside the restoration technicians on the conversion to the classic Bristol. Each piece has been test fit numerous times and refined over the previous weeks to make sure the fit and finish of the dash panels is perfect and flow seamlessly into the shape of the cabin.

Brian will make small tweaks to the bracketry and supports to make sure each individual piece (and the panel as a whole) sits right in the car and works together.

Refit and Repair – Working on the Boot and Kick Panels of the 1969 Bentley T1

The 1969 Bentley T1 which is being worked on by the Bridge Classic Cars paint and body team, have been joined by the in-house trim team to work on getting the classic Bentley back together.

The trim team worked on refitting and renewing the boot carpets onto the upper part of the deck lid. Along with the carpet, the team have installed the boot seal onto the lip of the boot opening.

With this part of the work complete, the trim team took a couple of pieces of the interior of the Bentley up to the trim shop to work on. The kick panels are in need of repairing and then will be fit back into the car.

Retrimmed – Dash Panel on the 1970 Bristol 411 Retrimmed

The dash panels of the 1970 Bristol 411 have been completely refurbished and retrimmed by the trim team at Bridge Classic Cars.

These pieces have been trimmed in black to match the original dash pad covering and to work around the new LHD conversion being carried out by the restoration workshop. With these pieces now finished, the team can begin to refit them into the car.

Assessment – The Workshop Team Inspecting the 1973 Volvo 1800ES

The team at Bridge Classic Cars have been going through and inspecting the 1973 Volvo 1800ES ahead of work beginning on the classic Volvo.

The owner of this unique and rare Volvo has asked our team to look into a series of works to update and refurbish aspects of the car along with some diagnostics work into some issues which have presented themselves.

We’re excited to show you the progress on this amazing project very soon.

Final Placement – Fitting and Fully Welding the Steering Rack Mounts for the 1970 Bristol 411

The steering rack mounts for the 1970 Bristol 411 have been final welding into the engine bay of the classic GT car.

As part of the left-hand drive conversion that our team are carrying out on the car, new steering rack mounts had to be made to move the rack from one side of the car to the other. Because of the forces put through the piece, the mounts have been welded onto thicker metal plates which have been grafted into the car to strengthen the piece.

Back Together – Fitting the New Cooling System to the 1952 MG TD

The workshop team at Bridge Classic Cars have been working on fitting the new cooling system into the 1952 MG TD.

Jon, one of our technicians, has fitted up the new thermostat housing for the car to make sure the wonderful 4-cylinder engine that sits at the heart of the TD is cool. Along with the new thermostat, he made up new coolant hoses which have been routed and sized perfectly for the engine bay of the TD.

Final Finish – Painting the Doors and Quarter Panels of the 1987 Mercedes 500SL

The final panels for the 1987 Mercedes 500SL have been carefully and meticulously prepared by the paint and body team at Bridge Classic Cars.

Alan, has worked on getting each panel individually prepared and then cleaned down before taking them into our in-house paint booth where they were to be finished in matching Selenit Grey to the rest of the car.

He laid down layer after layer of the deep, glossy grey to the doors and front quarter panels which marks the final major pieces of the 1987 500SL to be painted and the car will soon begin the rebuild of the car.

Headed Home – The 1995 BMW 850CSi All Back Together

The paintwork on the 1995 BMW 850CSi has been completed by the Bridge Classic Cars in-house paint and body team so it’s time for the beautiful classic BMW to head home.

The team have refinished the rear bumper in matching Oxford Green to the rest of the car. The team completely stripped the rear bumper all the way back and carried out several rounds of refining to make sure the bumper was in as good a shape as the rest of the car.

Then, it was taken into our in-house paint booth where Alan, one of our painters, laid down several layers of the dark, luscious green.
