Our XK is a low-mileage example that is well specified, has been properly maintained and is still very original.
Registered on 14th June 2006, this is an early Jaguar XK 4.2 Convertible. It’s finished in Pearlescent Indigo Blue (black?) with an ivory leather interior and black roof. The X150 was a step up from the old XK8 it replaced. Jaguar moved to a bonded and riveted aluminium chassis, which made the car lighter, stiffer and far more modern to drive. That resulted in a pretty big difference. Earlier Jaguars could feel soft and old-fashioned, but the X150 managed to retain the relaxed Jaguar character while becoming genuinely capable and refined. It was quick too, with the naturally aspirated 4.2-litre AJ34 V8 producing just under 300bhp and paired to a six-speed ZF automatic gearbox. Even by modern standards, it’s still properly fast!
Our XK has a history file that can only be described as very impressive. It has service records stretching back throughout most of its life, from Jaguar main dealers and specialists. Early servicing was carried out by Guy Salmon Jaguar Gatwick and Marshall Jaguar Ipswich, before later maintenance moved to specialists, including GP Jaguar Services and The Jaguar Specialist. That progression is often a good sign with older Jaguars, as long-term enthusiast owners tend to move away from main dealers while continuing to maintain the cars properly.
The car covered regular mileage during its earlier years before gradually living a slower life in more recent years. By 2017, the annual mileage had dropped, and most recently, only small distances have been covered. Over the course of its life, our XK has covered just over 61,500 miles.
In 2024, our XK received a gearbox service and filter replacement. If you look at the MOT history, you’ll see only one failure in 2020 relating to an SRS warning light. Advisories over the years have been minor and consistent with normal wear, including brake wear and front tyre edge wear.
On top of all of its standard features, our Jaguar has 20-inch Senta alloy wheels, heated memory seats, navigation, and parking sensors. Cars like this are becoming increasingly difficult to find. Many early X150s have now suffered from neglected maintenance, electrical issues or simple overuse, but this one has lived a very different life, with owners who understood how to properly care for it.
And now, very soon, it will move into the next chapter of its life with a new owner.
