Our 1965 Lotus Cortina MK1 is finished in classic Ermine White with a Green side flash and trimmed in Black. It was restored to fast road/classic rally specification around 2005 by marque specialist Eddie Ganderton.
Since undergoing its bare-shell restoration, it has covered fewer than 1,000 miles. The engine retains a correct 4-bolt crank with matching head and block numbers, fully balanced, gas-flowed, and ported. It features a period Magard double throttle linkage on Weber 40 DCOE 18s, a 2-inch exhaust with a competition manifold, twin Facet fuel pumps in the boot, and Aeroquip fuel lines. Additional period-correct competition upgrades include a competition clutch, 2000E gear ratios, an original alloy bell housing, genuine Lotus half shafts, and a one-piece propshaft. The suspension has genuine Lotus rear leaf springs and wedges, adjustable struts, and rear Bilstein dampers. Completing the rally-ready specification are a working period Halda, fixed-back front seats, and an aircraft clock of the type used in Sabre fighter jets of the era.
In the last three months, the car has undergone a full service, including new spark plugs, fresh antifreeze, oil changes, a new battery, and new tyres.
