The McMurtry Spéirling PURE VP1 has broken two more lap records during its recent tour of Denmark, in partnership with its Scandinavian dealer, MY GARAGE. Interestingly, though, both records were “accidentally” set by non-professional drivers on consecutive days.

The first record was set at Denmark’s Jyllandsringen circuit. During an open track session, a private McMurtry customer recorded a lap time of 1:02.16, beating the previous outright lap record, which had been set by a Formula 4 car, by more than two seconds. Arguably, even more impressively, the Spéirling PURE was running at half power and half downforce, while also working its way through traffic during the lap.

Jyllandsringen’s 2.3km layout has 16 corners and multiple tight sections. This obviously was a perfect fit for the all-electric hypercar and its ability to generate up to 3G while cornering.

“What a tour of Denmark this turned out to be. The reception of the Spéirling PURE by the Scandinavian crowds, as well as by the media and customers who drove the car on track, has been nothing short of incredible. It’s been a true pleasure to demonstrate the capabilities of the car to an entirely new audience with the help of our regional partner, MY GARAGE. We didn’t set out to break any records this time, but these things can happen when you’ve got up to 2000kg of Downforce-on-DemandTM and 1000bhp to play with. What you don’t need is to be a professional racing driver to set some serious lap times and have a lot of fun in the process.”

Thomas Yates, co-founder and Managing Director of McMurtry Automotive

Less than 48 hours earlier, the Spéirling PURE was at Padborg Park, in Denmark, where Swedish automotive journalist Marcus Berggren, founder and Editor-in-Chief of Högsta Växeln, set a new outright lap record of 54.30 seconds during his second test session in the car. Despite having no professional racing experience and driving the Spéirling for the first time, Berggren beat the previous record, held by a Porsche 911 GT3 R, by more than three seconds. He also beat an unofficial lap time previously set by a 1997 Lola Formula 1 car!

“Considering I have no racing background, the fact that I could set a new lap record at Padborg Park – beating the time of an actual F1 car – says everything about the McMurtry Spéirling. I’d like to think I played a small part in it too, but really, it shows just how extraordinary this car is.”

Marcus Berggren, Swedish automotive journalist

Padborg Park is a 2.07km circuit that allowed the Spéirling PURE to show off its performance on both the straights and under braking, with Berggren reaching 241kph (150mph) and experiencing the car’s 4G braking capability.

“The excitement from our customer after the lap said it all! It’s impressive how accessible the performance of the Spéirling feels from behind the wheel. The car delivers extraordinary speed and grip, yet it remains intuitive and confidence-inspiring to drive. This combination of record-breaking performance and driver engagement makes the McMurtry truly special. Achieving a new track record at Jyllandsringen is a fantastic milestone, and we are thrilled to see the car making such a strong impression in Denmark. The lap was remarkable and showcased what this groundbreaking vehicle is truly capable of.”

Production of the McMurtry Spéirling PURE will be limited to 100 examples, with first customer deliveries expected to begin later in 2026.
