Lancaster Insurance has introduced its new Young Accompanied Driver endorsement, giving customers the opportunity to let younger drivers experience driving a classic car while keeping their insurance policy protected. This is an extremely important offering as it means that classic car owners can encourage the next generation of enthusiasts who might otherwise be unable to ever experience driving a classic due to insurance limitations.

Available on KGM-insured policies, the endorsement allows a named driver aged 18 or over to be added to an existing policy for an additional premium. To qualify, the younger driver must have held a full driving licence for at least 12 months. Whenever they are driving the vehicle, they must be accompanied by either the main policyholder, a qualified driver (their parent or someone aged 25 or over who has held a clean licence for at least three years), or a qualified driving instructor or examiner.

The endorsement is available on both single and multi-vehicle policies and includes a range of benefits, including spare parts cover, salvage retention, foreign travel, choice of repairer (subject to agreement), and cover for static shows and non-timed rallies. Agreed value is also available at an additional cost, alongside personal accident and personal belongings cover.

At Bridge Classic Cars, we are passionate about encouraging the younger generation to be more involved in the classic car world, and this will be a great help in doing just that.
