Work Continues On Our E-Type

Our beautiful 1973 Jaguar E-Type Roadster Series 3 has been in the hands of classic car technician Steve. One of the tasks that Steve completed was to fit new blower intake vents.

Once this was done, Steve found that there was very little clearance between the brake vacuum reservoir and the blower fan housing which resulted in a knocking sound being produced. The blower fan motor end float was adjusted to help resolve this issue.

The brake vacuum reservoir was also adjusted before Steve found that the choke mechanism was catching on the rear carburettor air filter retainer clamp. There was also a worn float valve that was causing the rear carburettor to fuel starve.

Steve went on to strip down part of our E-Type and removed the air conditioning evaporator box. This was cleaned and a new matrix support bar was made. The sump and gasket surfaces were also cleaned before being refitted.

Jaguar Chassis Painted

After the chassis of our 1954 Jaguar XK120 was repaired by our fabrication team, it moved over into the Bridge Classic Cars paintshop.

While there, classic car technician Mauro painted the chassis black.

As you can tell from the photos below, the chassis looks much improved and marks a step forward in the restoration of our classic Jaguar XK120.

Priming Our Healey

Our 1967 Austin Healey 3000 has been in the Bridge Classic Cars paintshop with classic car technician Mauro.

Mauro has been prepping specific areas of the car to be painted by applying epoxy primer.

Once our classic Austin Healey leaves the paint shop, it will be ready to move on to the next stage of work.

Preparing To Be Won

Our 1980 MGB GT is currently live on the Bridge Classic Cars Competitions website and will be won very soon.

Before then though, classic car technician Jonn has been doing some work on it to make sure it is ready for its new owner. This started with a new ignition switch being fitted before the carburettors, heatshield, and engine side covers were removed ready to be serviced.

Our 1980 MGB GT will soon be won and we are very much looking forward to seeing it arrive with the lucky winner, whoever that may be.

Stag Inspection

Classic car technician Jonn has been inspecting our 1972 Triumph Stag in preparation for it to be delivered to the lucky winner very soon.

During his inspection, Jonn found that part of the nearside rear chassis needed to be repaired. After stripping the rear suspension, Monty from the Bridge Classic Cars fabrication workshop was able to access the area and repair it. Once repaired, Monty undersealed the repaired area too.

The oil filter housing was taken out, painted, and then refitted. Jonn also fitted a new nearside rear wheel cylinder before removing the rocker cover so a new gasket could be fitted. Once the rocker gasket cover was cleaned, the new gasket was fitted.

Jonn also fitted new choke cables and a new washer bottle too.

Our classic Stag is now almost ready to be delivered to its new owner and will soon be leaving the Bridge Classic Cars workshop.

Clean Dials

Workshop manager John has been working on our 1976 Aston Martin AMV8. He removed the dials from our classic AMV8 so they could be cleaned.

Once the cleaning was complete and the dials looked even more appealing than they did before, they were put back into the car.

More DB2 Progress

Our 1955 Aston Martin DB2/4 Mark I has been making very good progress through its restoration journey lately.

This has continued with classic car technician John wiring up the lights and fitting up the bonnet and boot. Once this was done, the car was actually taken to a car show being hosted by the owner of our DB2.

It was great to see this stunning classic car out of the workshop and back with its owner temporarily. We are looking forward to this being a permanent situation very soon once work is complete.

Blowing Fuses

The door mirrors and interior lights of our 1994 Daimler Double Six keep blowing fuses so, classic car technician John has been investigating what could be causing the issue.

John stripped down the door panel to remove the switch. Once the switch was removed, signs of corrosion were found so John dismantled and cleaned it before re-fitting.

Filler And Panel Levelling

Our 2022 Bridge C Type Replica has come a long way in recent weeks and is now in the Bridge Classic Cars paintshop, where it has been in the hands of classic car technician Alan.

Alan has been doing filler work on the car as well as panel levelling ready for it to be painted in the near future.

This is obviously a very special vehicle for us to be working on and we are very much looking forward for it to soon be out on the road.

A Frogeye In The Paint Shop

Classic car technician Al has continued his work on our 1958 Austin Healey ‘Frogeye’ Sprite. He has been painting the various parts of the classic car.

Although being repainted in its original colour, once it leaves the Bridge Classic Cars Paintshop, it will be in a condition that we are much happier with.

Once it moves on to the next stage of its preparation, it will be one step closer to eventually being won through Bridge Classic Cars Competitions.

Almost There

Our 1984 Suzuki GSX 400T is almost at the end of its restoration journey.

Although there is still some work to be done, as you can see from the photos below, it’s looking good already.

A Classic Lambretta

We have recently welcomed a 1977 Lambretta LI150 Special Jet 150 into the Bridge Classic Cars workshop.

As you can see from the photos below, it certainly has a lot of character and will no doubt get lots of attention when it’s out on the road.

It will now undergo a full inspection and assessment before a plan is put together for its future.

The Rebuild Continues

The rebuild of our competition 1968 Jaguar E-Type Series 1.5 has continued recently with more work being completed.

Having an E-Type as a classic car to be won through Bridge Classic Cars Competitions is an exciting project and we are very much looking forward to it being won by its new owner in the near future.

For now, though, the installation of the chrome work has begun, and the lights have been fitted. The dashboard installation process has also begun.

More updates on this extremely exciting project are coming very soon…

Win Our MGB GT

Entry is now open for our 1980 MGB GT on the Bridge Classic Cars Competitions website.

This type of classic car is always popular so we are very excited to see someone win it on the 4th of July 2023.

After undergoing an aesthetic restoration, our MGB GT has been refinished in Vermillion Orange, which pairs beautifully with its grey-striped interior and full-length sunroof.

You can enter the draw to be in with a chance of winning our 1980 MGB GT for the launch sale price of just ยฃ7.50. Once the launch sale ends, the price will increase to ยฃ8. Competitions MGBs have a habit of selling out fast and we are expecting this one to be the same.

Final Primer

Our 1974 Volkswagen Beetle has continued its stay in the Bridge Classic Cars paintshop. All of its body panels have now been into final primer and the rest of the car has had its guide coat applied ready to be rubbed down in preparation for final primer to be applied to this too.

More Work On Our Boat Tail

Classic car technician Jonn has continued his work on our 1927 Delage DI Sport Boat Tail and, he even got it up and running and drove it out of the workshop to make sure everything was working as it should.

This classic vehicle looks impressive just sat in the workshop but, seeing it drive made it look even better.

Working On Our E-Type

Classic car technician Jonn has continued his work on our 1970 Jaguar E-Type Series 2. This time he has been looking at the cooling system. Jonn fitted the vacuum tool and used it to refill the system.

When the car was run up to temperature, the radiator was found to be weeping. This was removed ready for a new one to be fitted. Mounts were fitted to the new radiator. The offside mount needed to be modified to make sure it cleared the bottom outlet. Once this was done, Jonn fitted the fan switch to the new radiator – this also needed a modified earth wire.

The system was vacuum filled again and, this time, the vacuum was not lost. The fans are now running as intended with no leaks found.

Boxter Splitter

A 2013 Porsche Boxter, that has been with us before, made a brief return to the Bridge Classic Cars workshop recently. It was here so that classic car technician Jonn could fit a front splitter, that the customer had supplied.

Jonn, with a bit of help from workshop manager John, got the splitter on the car and it was soon back home with its owner.

An E-Type Returns

Our 1973 Jaguar E-Type Roadster Series 3 has come back into the workshop for some attention while its owner is back home in France.

Classic car technician Steve has been taking a closer look at the vehicle and noticed that there was oil around the filter housing. Oil was also found on the side of the engine, which Steve believed could be coming from the oil feed pipe. More oil was also present around the side of the gearbox and sump.

To find out where the leak was coming from, Steve cleaned all of the areas and applied a leak detector. The oil leak was found to be coming from the back of the engine, specifically, the filler tube. A slight leak was also found to be coming from the solenoid terminal and the oil filter housing.

Steve checked that the breather system was ok and not blocked before moving on to resolving the leaks.

While working on our stunning E-Type, Steve also fitted a new bonnet catch and latch.

Two Eye-Catching Sportscars

We currently have two attention-grabbing sportscars in the Bridge Classic Cars workshop in the form of our 1980 MGB GT and our 2007 Porsche Cayman S.

These two cars are finished in great colours. Our MGB is finished in Vermillion Orange while our Cayman is finished in the rare PTS 8C6 Orange (RS Orange). After both vehicles had been valeted, we thought it would be a great opportunity to take a photo of them next to each other.

As you can see, the Atelier proved to be a great environment to catch the cars in all their orange glory.

A Visit From Riley Expert Geoff Haviland

We recently welcomed Geoff Haviland into the Bridge Classic Cars workshop, so he could take a close look at our 1905 Riley 9HP.

Geoff was the individual who reached out to us after seeing our Riley project online. He noticed that our car looked different to how it should, and seemed to be a year or two older than it should have been. It was from his information that it now appears that our 1905 Riley 9HP could very well be a prototype of the very first car to have removable wheels.

The level of knowledge that Geoff has about Riley cars is extraordinarily high. In fact, he was one of the main people involved in a project to build a replica of the first Riley car ever made. What makes this even more impressive is that there was almost no information at all about the original car when the project began but, with a lot of hard work, the replica project got underway.

It was great to have Geoff come and see us and our Riley 9HP. Classic car technician Steve, who has been working on the vehicle, spoke at length to Geoff to help confirm some details he will need to finish our project in the near future.

Everyone here at Bridge Classic Cars would like to thank Geoff for taking the time to visit us and for sharing so much of your knowledge and experience.

Welcome To The Workshop

The doors to the Bridge Classic Cars workshop have opened to welcome a new addition in the form of our 1986 Volkswagen Golf GTI Cabriolet.

This stunning classic car has some great features and we are very much looking forward to getting it inspected and assessed by our team of technicians before we decide what the future holds for our classic Golf.

Servicing Our Competition MGB

Classic car technician Jonn has been conducting a service on our 1980 MGB GT in preparation for it to be won through Bridge Classic Cars Competitions.

While servicing the car, he found the fuel sender was faulty and, upon removal, he noticed that the fuel hose from the sender was not a fuel-specific hose and, consequently, split as it was removed.

Jonn removed the fuel sender before fitting and wiring in a new one.

E-Type Investigations

Classic car technician Jonn has been investigating some issues with our 1970 Jaguar E-Type Series 2. He found that the brake reservoir was not leaking so this was rubbed down and masked up ready for painting.

After painting, the exposed metal areas were protected before everything was put back together and tested. The fan top cover was painted and refitted with new screws.

Jonn went on to drain and replace the coolant of our classic E-Type. While doing this, he noticed that the radiator drain plug had broken out of the radiator. Once the radiator was removed. the matrix looked like it had been leaking for a while as there are quite a few white stains on it.

Boat Tail Work Begins

Our 1927 Delage DI Sport Boat Tail has been the focus of classic car technician Jonn lately.

Jonn was working on resolving the faulty fuel pump. In order to access the pump, the floor had to be removed from this beautiful classic car. Once access had been gained, the old pump was replaced with a new one and tested to make sure it was working as it should.

Once this issue had been resolved, Jonn went on to change the oil in our stunning Boat Tail. He then ran the car up to temperature to check the oil pressure, and all was ok.

Transit Wheels Primed

As part of the restoration to bring our Ford Transit MKII Tipper back to its former glory, classic car technician Mauro has been applying epoxy primer to the wheels and drums.

Once the restoration of this old workhouse is complete, it will be going back to the construction company that owns it in as new condition.

This will be a great moment for both us and them, as it will be exciting to see our Transit Tipper be like it once was many years ago. For now though, the wheels are on their way to looking much better!

Painting Our Minx

Our 1962 Hillman Minx has been in the Bridge Classic Cars paintshop with Chris.

After masking up the car, Chris completed the paint repairs and, as you can see from the photos below, the car is looking great as it gets ready to leave the paint shop.

Filler Work Complete

Our 1974 Volkswagen Beetle has had all of its filler work completed by classic car technician Chris who has also sorted the panel gaps too.

Chris also had the polyfan primer applied to our classic beetle too. The polyfan was applied to the car’s body and was in the booth with its doors, bonnet, and wheel arches.

XK120 Chassis Repairs

Classic car technician Chris has been completing some welding repairs on our 1954 Jaguar XK120. After stripping the car, bracing it, and then removing the body, Chris has got to work on making the required repairs to the metalwork.

There’s still a long way to go before our classic XK120 looks its best but, with each repair completed, it gets a step closer to its former glory.

A Bit More Paint

Our 1976 Aston Martin AMV8 has been back in the hands of classic car technician Alan as he fixed a couple of areas that needed a bit more attention to make sure the finished paintwork was exactly how he wanted it to be.

Now that our AMV8 has been finished in Deep Carriage Green, it will soon be moving on ready to be put back together by the workshop team here at Bridge Classic Cars.
