After our 1964 Daimler 250 V8 was re-painted and polished, classic car technician Chris painted the number plates and the number plate backing to make sure the car looks as good as possible for when it gets returned to its owner in the near future.
When you have a classic car, these seemingly small paint jobs can go a long way in keeping your car in pristine condition so you, and everyone who sees it, can enjoy it as it deserves to be.
We recently said goodbye to two of the Bridge Classic Cars team, Lydia and Scott. They joined us as a couple and they left us as a couple too.
Lydia has done some incredible work in our trim shop and we are sure that she will continue to put her skills to good use in the future.
Scott has played a huge role in the restoration of several classic cars during his team here and we are sure that many more cars will be the focus of his attention over the next few years.
Everyone here at Bridge Classic Cars would like to wish Scott and Lydia all the best and we hope to see you both again.
Thank you for all your hard work!
After recently returning to the Bridge Classic Cars workshop, our 1978 MGB GT has been in the paint shop with technician Chris.
The paintwork that our classic MGB GT needed has now been completed and the car looks great and will soon be returned to its owner.
While our 1971 Ford Escort RS Mexico Recreation is being prepared for delivery to its new owner who was lucky enough to win this stunning classic car through Bridge Classic Cars Competitions, Jonn has been fitting new wheel bearings and alloy hubs.
As Jonn was working on our Mexico Recreation, he noticed that the offside caliper touched the disc. He had to grind this away so it now misses the disc.
Now everything is reassembled, Jonn is just waiting for new wheel studs to arrive to finish off this competition car and finally get it delivered to its new home.
Our 1980 MGB GT will soon be available to win through Bridge Classic Cars Competitions. However, before that happens, classic car technician Jonn has been making some repairs and improvements to this eye-catching classic car.
A new wing mirror base plate was fitted and the mirror secured in place. Jonn also fitted a new horn/indicator stalk.
The paintwork where the radiator mounts was cleaned and the fan guard was removed for painting. Once this was painted, it was re-fitted and now looks much improved.
Classic car technician Jonn has been working on our 1963 MGB Roadster by fitting a new starter to try and resolve the starting issues the car has been experiencing.
When Jonn was trying to remove the old starter, he was unable to remove it from the engine bay as it was too big to come out without first grinding through the starter shaft. After Jonn had done this, the old starter was removed and a new one was fitted. The new starter was much smaller than the original and fitted with ease into our classic MGB.
Our 2005 Aston Martin DB9 is now live on the Bridge Classic Cars Competitions website.
After being won back in December, Nick Jones enjoyed this special car for around 6 months before the time came for him to let it go. Once we heard this news, we felt that we had no choice but to buy the car back and offer you one more chance of winning it for yourself.
All the details you need can be found here.
Our 1971 MGB Convertible has been the focus of classic car technicians John and Jonn recently as they have been fitting a new alternator and completing other work on the car too.
New headlights were fitted to our MGB Convertible. Before this was done though, the ring surrounds were cleaned and polished. After the new lights were fitted, the beam patterns were adjusted and the chrome surrounds were re-fitted.
Classic car technician Brian has been working on the latest car available to win through Bridge Classic Cars Competitions, our 1963 Reliant Scimitar GTE. Brian made and replaced the dash top cover, ensuring that this classic car’s interior looks as good as possible for the lucky winner who is soon-to-be-found.
Brian started by making a paper pattern for the cover before using this to cut the cover out of vinyl.
The dash top was sanded smooth in preparation for glueing and was masked up. The back edge of the new cover was glued in place first followed by the top edge. Brian then folded the vinyl around the front edge and trimmed the excess material off.
Now that the new dash top cover is fitted, our Reliant Scimitar is ready to be won on Tuesday, 6th June.
Classic car technician Jonn has been busy installing seatbelts into our returning 1963 MGB Roadster.
During the installation, Jonn found that the hole in the seatbelt mount needed enlarging so it would fit the spacers that he had made. Once this had been done, the spacer fit perfectly and was ready to be put into the car.
Jonn fitted the offside seatbelt first and secured it in place. Once he was happy it was functioning properly, he repeated the process on the nearside of the vehicle.
We were lucky enough to be sent some photos and a short video of a motorbike meet being held in Garstang, Lancashire recently.
Seeing this many motorbikes travelling in convoy is always an impressive sight and we are keen to attend more motorbike events in the future.
Our 1980 MGB GT, which will soon be available to win through Bridge Classic Cars Competitions, has been under the care of classic car technician Jonn.
Jonn has fitted new rear fog lights to our classic MGB.
After fitting both the offside and the nearside lights, he tested them to make sure they were working correctly. Once he was happy that they were, our 1980 MGB GT moved one step closer to being won in the near future.
On the 8th of June, Monaco Car Auctions will host their inaugural LโAstaRossa sale, held in partnership with Top Marques Monaco, at the Grimaldi Forum. This will be a Ferrari-exclusive auction and will include more than 40 very special vehicles. The headline consignment is a beautiful Ferrari Enzo that is currently part of the private collection of two-time Formula 1 world champion, Fernando Alonso.
The iconic Enzo is widely thought of as the hypercar that defined the Ferrari breed. From its bold design, impressive performance, and stunning engine note, it made a big impact in the automotive world. This particular Enzo has a carbon fibre and Nomex honeycomb monocoque chassis and a 6-litre V12. When you add this to the fact that only 399 were made and this is โScocca n.1โ (first body), the estimated price tag of โฌ5 million (around ยฃ4.3 million) is steep, but somewhat expected.
Although not much is known about Alonso’s ownership of the Rosso Corsa (red) Enzo, the car has covered just under 3000 miles and has been certified by Ferrariโs Classiche division.
There are other, even rarer, Ferraris available in the June 8th auction including a one-of-one Felber Ferrari 365 GTC/4 โBeach Carโ by Michelotti, a 1956 Ferrari 250 GT Boano, and a unique 2017 Ferrari 488 GTB which has been modified for use by Lapland Ice Driving.
Work has begun on our 1988 Mercedes 420SL with classic car technician Brian getting to work on repairing the interior trim of the classic Mercedes.
Brian removed the old centre console wood trim panel before removing the heater control wood trim panel and all switches. The glovebox wood trim panel and lock were also removed before the wood trim from the dash panels was removed too.
When Brian removed the trim from the ashtray, he cleaned the old mastic off before fitting a new wood trim panel to it. New wood trim panels were fixed to the glovebox too. Brian then re-fitted the lock and put the glovebox back into the car.
More replacement wood trim was fitted to the dash centre and side panels. The heater also had its wood trim replaced. As this was being made, the hole for the switch was found to be in the wrong place so Brian had to modify this to fit.
Rubber surrounds were fitted to the switch and to the gearshift panel before Brian fitted everything back into the car.
Work wasn’t done on our 420SL though as Brian also repaired a scuff in the roof hood.
After being with us from almost the start of it all, the time has come for the Bridge Classic Cars trailer to move on and for us to upgrade to a bigger and better option.
Despite the excitement the new trailer is bringing, there is certainly a sense of sadness to see such a longstanding part of the business leave us. Our trailer has covered thousands of miles collecting and delivering classic cars all over the country. Many of our restoration projects come into the workshop in our trailer and many leave in its protective shell on their way back to their happy owners. Since the launch of Bridge Classic Cars Competitions, the trailer has also delivered more than 100 cars to the lucky winners wherever they are in the UK.
Starting its life with us in a nice shade of grey, it was emblazoned with the Bridge Classic Cars logo and transported some true classic, vintage, and special vehicles before undergoing something of a transformation. Going from grey to black, the new look trailer had a new style while still carrying a huge variety of vehicles to and from the Bridge Classic Cars workshop.
As the list of our current projects continues to grow, a bigger trailer is needed to keep up with the flow of vehicles needed to be brought into the workshop…and that’s where the new Bridge Classic Cars trailer comes in.
As you can see from the photos below, our new trailer is quite a bit bigger than the previous one and certainly looks to be up for the job of moving classic vehicles wherever they need to be.
It’s not entirely the end for our old faithful trailer though. It now moves on to be part of a race team and will, no doubt, cover many more miles, and carry some equally as important cars in the next chapter of its life.
The Bridge Classic Cars trailer – a loyal workhouse. The new trailer – soon to be seen collecting and delivering classic vehicles all over the country.
Rolls-Royce has very recently announced an extremely limited line known as the Black Badge Cullinan ‘Blue Shadow’ Private Collection. As this stunning line was inspired by the Kรกrmรกn Line (the invisible boundary where Earth’s atmosphere ends and space begins) there will only be 62 examples of the Blue Shadow made. Why? Because the Kรกrmรกn Line is 62 miles above Earth’s surface!
Once the Kรกrmรกn Line is reached, the familiar blue of Earth’s atmosphere fades into the blackness of space. This creates a powerful dark-blue zone that very few people will ever get to see for themselves. It is this mysterious region that Rolls-Royce say perfectly encapsulates the essence of Blue Shadow.
This new Bespoke interpretation of Black Badge Cullinan is available exclusively through the marqueโs Private Offices and is strictly limited to just 62 examples globally.
Blue Shadow is finished in Stardust Blue which aims to capture the deep blue colour of the upper atmosphere and the satin-tinted grille surround and aero bumper insert sets are recognisable nods to former Space Shuttle designs. The Spirit of Ecstasy has been created from titanium using 3D printing techniques and finished with a thin layer of blue-tinted lacquer which adds pearlescence while revealing the titaniumโs grained texture.
You will also find the Black Badge infinity logo and โBlue Shadowโ Private Collection name engraved on the Spirit of Ecstasy base and infilled with Charles Blue. Even Blue Shadowโs wheels are subtly darkened using a translucent lacquer.
If you were to ever make it to the Kรกrmรกn line, you would see the edge of Earth’s atmosphere as a beautiful blue halo. The powerful impact of the transition from the blue sky of Earth into the darkness of space has been beautifully captured on Blue Shadow’s painted fascia and door panels. Six layers of paint were used to combine five different shades of blue with a deep black hue which creates a three-dimensional effect inside Blue Shadow. A clear coat is the final touch and it incorporates blue and clear glass particles to add another level of depth. The fascia is finished with a bespoke clock which is completely unique to the Private Collection.
The iconic Starlight Headliner has been taken further into space with the addition of an intricate moon embroidery. The moon has been given a three-dimensional appearance and is made from five different colours of thread with each one being applied with a different stitching technique. The result is a stunning multi-textured space scene. 250,000 separate stitches are needed to create the headliner and the whole process takes 2 days to complete.
In a first for Rolls-Royce, the front and rear seats feature a unique perforated artwork. This has been inspired by the view of Earth from space and is formed by making tiny perforations in the leather.
A selection of accessories is available to add to the Blue Shadow. These include an exclusive indoor car cover that has the same pattern as the seats, and a luggage set. An exact 1:8 scale replica of the Blue Shadow can also be commissioned if the owner chooses to do so.
Black Badge Cullinan ‘Blue Shadow’ is available exclusively via the Rolls-Royce Private Office. However, all 62 examples have already been allocated to clients worldwide.
Classic car technician Brian has been completing some interior work on our 1973 Triumph Spitfire. He began by glueing the carpets back around the footwell cross members and then glued the footwell carpets in place too.
The tunnel carpet was fitted under the trim panel before Brian trimmed the binding on the cockpit carpet. He went on to add some extra foam over the tunnel area and repaired the gearshift gaiter.
Classic car technician Brian has been working on part of the interior of our 1959 Jensen 541R.
He continued his work on the dash by sanding the dash panel smooth before covering it in vinyl. The vinyl was marked and cut out before it was glued onto the panel. Holes for the dials were then cut out of the vinyl ready for the dash panel to go back into the car soon.
Our 1929 Riley 9 Tourer has continued to be in the skilled hands of classic car technician Brian, as he carries on his work on the roof cover and tonneau.
Brian cut out the flaps for the roof bars on the hood cover before he cut out the new sections for the hood envelope cover. After trial fitting the tonneau cover, Brian marked both the front and back covers to show where the zip would need to be sewn in.
The hood envelope then had the sides cut out ready to be sewn, before Brian went on to mark where the fasteners will go on the tonneau cover. Once the steering wheel cover had been trial fitted and marked for sewing, the hood envelope cover and the hood cover were both trial-fitted too. The hood was then clipped to the frame so the side edges could be trimmed straight.
Brian then turned his attention to the interior of our Riley Hillclimber by fitting the rear squab seat brackets and seat.
Holes were drilled in the body of the car for the stud fasteners, and button fasteners were fitted to the cover using a hand tool and punch. The positions of the fasteners were marked before they were attached and the cover flap was fastened to the car.
Once the zip was sewn in place, the front and rear tonneau covers were zipped together and fastened around the car.
Another new addition to the Bridge Classic Cars workshop is our 1955 MG TF 1500.
There can be no denying that this is a beautiful classic car and one that highlights just how iconic the MG marque really is. While it is with us, our team of technicians will be investigating and resolving a few issues the car is suffering from.
These include investigating why it won’t start, carrying out a major service, and reporting any findings back to the owner to work out a plan of action for its future.
MG hosted a special preview event where the brand showed off a pre-production design model of its brand-new all-electric roadster – The Cyberster. With a release expected in the summer of 2024, a new chapter in the MG story is being written as the iconic manufacturer returns to its roots with this exciting new sports car.
The Cyberster made its debut at the event held at the MG Motor UK headquarters in Marylebone, London. It was there that advanced design director, Carl Gotham and team โ who played a key role in creating the Cyberster โ introduced the model for the first time.
Carl said โIt is a special moment for all of us who have played a part in designing this unique car. The Cyberster will offer MG customers a striking, all-electric roadster which will be as exciting as MG sports cars of the past.โ
To mark the upcoming release of the Cyberster, MG has released a film which helps tell the story of the work that went into designing and creating a sports car that is set to be the very first all-electric roadster on the market.
Inspired by MGs heritage, the Cyberster has the distinctive long bonnet, a low nose, and plenty of curves. In addition to the recognisable features that indicate the car’s MG lineage, new features such as scissor doors and a Kammback rear design bring a classic design into a stylish new future.
The creation of the Cyberster marks MG’s return to sports car production. Not only does the Cyberster do this in attention-grabbing fashion, but it also brings the MG story right up to date and allows for another generation of drivers to enjoy this iconic British brand.
Workshop Manager John has been working on the electrics of our 1955 Aston Martin DB2/4.
He has been checking all of the wiring and switches to make sure everything is working as it should. As it stands, only the wipers are working but John will no doubt get everything up and running very soon.
Once John has completed his work, all the switches will be in the same position when on/off and the issue of no power going to the dash will be resolved too.
After being painted in the Bridge Classic Cars paintshop, Chris has been putting all panels back onto our 1964 Daimler 250 V8 and polishing it to finish its repaint.
Now that it has been painted, it will go on to be put back together before moving on to the next stage of its restoration.
Our 1971 MGB Convertible has been with classic car technician Jonn, ready to get it prepared to go through an MOT.
As this beautiful classic car had been off the road for quite some time, it came into the Bridge Classic Cars workshop for our team of technicians to get it back into road-worthy condition. Now that the work has been completed, and the car is ready to go back to its owner, it has gone through one final check to make sure it can pass its MOT.
The offside rear wheel bearing was adjusted ready for a new split pin and wheel to be fitted.
Classic car technician Jonn has been working on our 1980 MGB GT in preparation for it to go live on the Bridge Classic Cars Competitions website.
After being painted and then put back together, Jonn was checking the car over when he discovered that the horn was not working. During his investigation, Jonn traced the fault back to a broken wire at the horn connection inside the switch.
Once this was repaired, the horn worked as it should and our MGB GT is one step closer to being won in the very near future.
Bridge Classic Cars Director, Gordon, has been spending some time in France lately in order to attend the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix.
Our good friend, Jack, was also at the event; between them, they shared some incredible photos and videos of the race.
The Monaco Grand Prix is considered one of the most challenging of the racing calendar. The iconic street circuit includes narrow lanes, sharp turns, and unforgiving barriers that can make a seemingly small error have potentially catastrophic consequences.
From Gordon making his arrival by sea to the impressive view that Jack had, the weekend looked to be a fantastic experience for all in attendance.
We have welcomed yet another new arrival to the Bridge Classic Cars workshop in the form of our 1988 Mercedes 420SL.
While it is with us, our team of technicians will be looking to repair some of the interior trim as well as looking at some other areas that may require attention.
