More Panel Levelling

The panel levelling work on our 1969 Aston Martin DB6 Volante is coming on well, with both sides pretty much ready for spraying with polyfiller. Where repairs have been carried out to the bodywork, Adam shaped the metal back to its original position, limiting the amount of levelling that’s needed to get the shape.

Filler Work

Our 1969 Aston Martin DB6 Volante has been masked up, and Adam has begun filler work on the top of the boot and rear quarter.

Suspension And Underside

Ben has been assembling various components for the suspension, cleaning threads and fitting bushings on our 1969 Aston Martin DB6 Volante. He built up the new koni shock absorbers and started fitting, but further checks showed these should be black, even though our Aston Martin parts company supplied red units. So these were removed and […]

Welding Almost Done

Pete has undertaken additional weld repairs on our 1969 Aston Martin DB6 Volante following further preparation by the paint team, who uncovered several cracks and splits beneath previously painted and filled sections. These flaws, hidden in corners and recesses, have now been alloy welded and carefully sanded to restore the correct contour lines of the […]

Prepping Underside For Underseal

Here is the process of scraping, wire brushing and sanding the underside of our 1969 Aston Martin DB6 Volante so it can be painted. The masking up is also shown. Ben was careful to cover all parts that needed to stay clean. The battery lines and brake lines were removed and taped up. Before Ben […]

Fabrication And Arch Repairs

Ben found some further rust and corrosion hidden in the front wheel arches of our DB6 Volante while he was prepping for new rust proofing. This has now been cut away and the metal treated before being welded and having new trim panels made. New vents have been fabricated for the inner wings that have […]

Main Body Repairs

Pete has completed the final sections on the 1969 Aston Martin DB6 Volante, with the sills now fully trimmed and the wire-to-chassis welds finished. All holes were plugged and smoothed in preparation for the painters. Work also resumed on the boot lid, addressing previous poor repairs by cutting out the rotten areas to replace the […]

Resolving Past Issues

Pete carried out significant repairs on our 1969 Aston Martin DB6 Volante, beginning with the front light area where new discs were cut, cleaned, and welded into place. The original body holes had suffered extensive damage, including multiple splits and numerous drill holes from previous attempts to refit the light back plates. These compromised areas […]

Body Repairs

Work on our 1969 Aston Martin DB6 Volante, carried out by Pete, involved addressing issues with a replacement panel that failed to align and fit to the expected standard. Prioritising quality, the panel was removed and replaced. The result is a precise body line around the wheel arch and sill, with the door aperture now […]

More Stripdown Progress

Ben has continued the strip-down process on the 1969 Aston Martin DB6 Volante, focusing on the doors and various components that needed removal before paint stripping could commence. In the paint shop, he detached several trim pieces, including the windscreen frame trim, the aerial chrome bezel, and the bonnet pop catches, which had been riveted […]

Stripdown Progress

Pete and Ben have been making great progress with the stripdown of our 1969 Aston Martin DB6 Volante. Every part is being carefully removed, individually wrapped or bagged, and labelled to ensure a smooth rebuild process. All chrome components have been photographed with corresponding labels before being sent off for refurbishment. The same process applies […]
