The workshop team here at the Bridge Classic Cars restoration workshops have been busy prepping and working on a whole host of projects, one of which is our 1990 Jaguar XJS. Our workshop manager, and wizard of all things electric, John has been getting to grips with an issue on the passenger side window.
‘The passenger window wasn’t work either up or down. The door card was removed and access gained to the wiring. The operation of the switch was checked and found to be okay. The motor and regulator was removed and tested on the bench. The motor was stripped and brushes checked and cleaned the bearings lubricated and rebuilt. The regulator was then found to be sticking so it was cleaned and lubricated. The window channels were cleaned and lubricated and the regulator and motor refitted the guides were then adjusted to maximise the window efficiency. The door card was then refitted.’
