Working on the brakes of the 1972 MGB Roadster

Our technician Will has been getting through the list of jobs to get the 1972 MGB Roadster back to working order. At this point, he’s been working on the brakes of the classic sports car.

‘Remove wheels, go through brakes make sure front brakes are operating as they should be and check over discs pads and calipers, remove seazmed on rear drums, in seaze rear brake shoes as it was the hand brake mechanism that was stuck on, go through and check wheel cylinders for leaks, check wheel cylinder operation, scuff up shoes and clean up drums, refit drums, check over brake lines, try to move clutch and get unstuck, Work on removing stuck bolts that hold bumper on as seized on from corrosion, remove bumper from main bolts, remove front left caliper and brake line clean up and prepare for sand blasting, tape over cylinders to not get sand in seals, remove front right caliper clean up and prepare for sand blasting, tape up cylinders so sand doesn’t get into rubbers, Sand blast front left caliper and clean up, wire wheel Hardwear for brake caliper, Sand blast front right caliper and clean up, and wire wheel Hardwear, With rear bumper on bench try and remove stuck on bolts, with heat and wd40 in end cut off bolts with John using air grinder.’

At the same time, Jon was helping Will out with a few small jobs like removing the bumpers and releasing a couple of seized bolts.
