Working on the 1978 MGB GT

Our technican Steve has been working on the 1978 MGB GT. Since its return to the Bridge Classic Cars workshop, the team have been making their way through the work orders to get this classic back to strength and ready for summer with its owner.

‘Replaced thermostat housing gasket as it was leaking and removed coolant tank to flush out sediment at the bottom before filling with new coolant. Noticed that pipe coming out of coolant tank was loose and needed soldering back on.’

‘Go through list, top up with coolant via top rad hose and header tank, go through door parts, refit wing mirror, refit door handle and lock mechanism, refit door card, refit door handle trim,refit window winder, go through lights replace faulty side light bulb, refit interior light switch, Runup and find water leak from thermostat housing, Drain water out of car, remove top rad hose a s thermostat, remove gasket, clean of gasket mating surfaces, make new gasket out of gasket paper, fit gasket on with sealant, refit thermostat and thermostat housing, allow sealant to go off and add water back, run up and check over car check for leaks, bleed brakes up cleanup and tidy up car.’

‘Fit brake adjuster on rear refit brake shoes and drum, fit wheel on rear of car and tourqe down, pressure test water system, find water leak coming from jubilee clip on hose sort out water leak.’
