Our technician Ben has been working away on the 1967 Fiat 600 here at the Bridge Classic Cars HQ in Suffolk, with all host of jobs being done on the super rare Italian classic.
‘I did an appraisal on the car and was given a list of items to sort such as the worn door handle mechanism, lights not working, trim broken…
I also found whilst working on the car that the fuel gauge wasn’t working correctly, this lead me to removing the fuel guage sender and finding the float full if fuel. I soldered a new float in the old ones place. I also had to sort wiring which was incorrect from previous work.
To remove play from the door handles they had to come apart cleaned, the pins pushed back into place as they had slid out. Where the handle mech contacts the latch I had to build up with liquid weld, smooth off and grease then refit. This sorted the play and the handle doesn’t go to the end of its travel then open.
I also had to make a new battery clamp as this was missing.
Waiting for washer bottle currently as this was missing also.
Repaired front trim as this was loose.
Worked through lights out, front side and indicators and the numberplate illumination. This is down to bad grounds and loose wiring and blown bulb. I also put a p-clip on the wiring on the boot lid or engine cover to prevent catching on engine’
