We’ve been working on a fair amount of Mini’s here at the Bridge Classic Cars HQ recently. Everything from Mk1’s all the way through to the Mk7’s of the late 1990’s and early 2000’s. This time, our technician Jon has been working on our 1994 Mini Cooper to go through a list of jobs needed to get this tiny terror back on the streets in top condition.

”Fit new nearside front I dictator lens and test. Fit new rear silencer rubber mount. Fit new front subframe front mounts and secure. Refit grill with new screws.”

”Jump start as battery flat. Take outside and run up. Carry out road test. Return and check k coolant. Muddy brown. Bring back into workshop and drain coolant. Remove hoses and radiator. Heater valve and thermostat housing. Run was warm through block and water pump. Both heater hoses and manifold pipes until water runs clear. Clean out pipes and radiator, heater valve and thermostat housing. Refit hoses. Make new gaskets for thermostat housing and refit. Refit rad and secure.”

”Connect all hoses. Fit thermostat housing and secure. Fit top hose. Carry out vacuum system fill. System holds vacuum for 5 mins ok. Fill system. Fit new battery. Tidy area and take outside to warm up. Carry put minor road test. Return and recheck k coolant. Gone cloudy again but not too bad. Check antifreeze protection level, -30 degrees c, ok.
