The 1972 VW Type 2 Camper has been into the Bridge Classic Cars workshop for the team to take a look at getting to the bottom of a slight knocking noise and to carry out the cars PDI.
‘Fit circlip to speedo cable end in nearside front dust cover. Refit wheel trim. Disconnect drag link ball joint and adjust until steering wheel straight. Resecure and tighten clamp. Warm up and carry out road test with John and Rob in the back to trace noise. Return and put on ramp. Suspect driveshaft nearside. Remove driveshaft and inspect joints. Inner joint been excessively greased and has slight play. Turn driveshaft through 180 so inner now becomes outer and viceversa, changing the direction of rotation and more importantly load. Carry out another road test, noise now gone.’
With that, the Type 2 could be cleaned down and loaded up for its life with its excited new owner.
