Our restoration technician Rob has been going full speed ahead on the chassis of the 1955 Aston Martin DB2 Drophead Coupe. In the pursuit of getting the vintage Aston Martin into a ‘rolling chassis’, Rob has been workign on getting several of the key components fitted up to the car. Upon building the drum brakes onto the spindles, he found that the relined brake shoes fouled the brake drums themselves, not something unsurprising – so Rob took each individual drum off the car and its corresponding shoes set and lapped them onto the drum for a clean, safe and equal fit.

After this, he could move onto getting the brake pipes shaped, fitted and secured into the car to make his pipe work run according to spec as well safely, and neatly, out of the way of any other components before fitting up the throttle pedal and the axle straps for the rear end.
