Jonn carried out repairs on the coolant hose of our 1999 Vauxhall Omega. The damaged section of the hose was removed, and a sleeve was placed over copper tubing before securing it with new jubilee clips. The vehicle was jacked up and placed on stands. The track rod ends were freed off, and the steering was straightened. The inlet manifold was removed to facilitate the hose repair, which was then fitted and secured. The manifold O-rings were greased before refitting the manifold.
A split breather hose at the rear of the offside head was removed. The breather was unblocked, and a new pipe was installed. The seals for the plenum were greased before it was refitted. All pipes and connections were reattached, and hoses were secured. A new breather hose was fitted, with the ends secured using cable ties. The vacuum system was checked, and the system was filled with new red coolant. The engine was run up, and the car was removed from the stands. Tyres were checked and inflated as required.
A road test confirmed that the steering wheel was now straight, and the vehicle performed correctly with stable temperature readings. Upon return, tracking was checked and adjusted, with a minor adjustment made before locking up the track rods. The coolant level was checked and topped up slightly. A visual inspection confirmed no leaks. A final road test was conducted, and all systems were operating correctly.
