The Bridge Classic Cars HQ recently welcomed this 1973 Porsche 914 into our restoration workshop for our team to take a look at a couple of issues with the classic aircooled sports car.

Recently, our technician Jon took the car out on road test to check over the car, but found that the cabin began to get a bit ‘fumey’ so returned back to the workshop to find that one of the heat exchange pipes had melted slightly, so after replacing it Jon could then retest the car. He did note that the car ran better after being allowed to warm up to operating temperature, but also that some of its characteristics (he reports pops and bangs on overrun) come from the downdraught carburetors.

After this, Jon could get to work on replacing the old selector rod ball socket.
