Toyota has just revealed the sixth generation RAV4. The extremely popular SUV now has smarter technology, improved styling, and a performance upgrade.

Over 15 million RAV4s have been sold globally since its 1994, with more than 2.5 million sold in Europe. This latest model is designed to keep that momentum going, balancing city refinement with serious off-road ability.

The new RAV4 has Toyota’s latest plug-in hybrid system. With a 22.7kWh battery, it delivers a 62-mile electric-only range (WLTP combined) and supports faster charging. In fact, a 30-minutes charge is enough to get 80% battery capacity with a 50kW DC charger. An upgraded front motor and all-wheel drive (AWD-i) system give it 300bhp and a 0-62mph time of 5.8 seconds. There’s also a front-wheel-drive option, the Plug-in 270, with 264bhp.

If you prefer a full hybrid, that’s also an option with the AWD-i version. This has 188bhp and its front-wheel counterpart has 181bhp.

Toyota’s new Arene software platform debuts in the RAV4, laying the groundwork for a fully software-defined car. This enables faster, more capable driver assistance and safety features, including a new Front Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Change Assist, and upgraded collision detection.

Inside, there is a 12.9-inch multimedia screen, paired with a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and enhanced voice control. Navigation is clearer, more intuitive, and includes real-time info on things like speed cameras and low-emission zones. It’s all wrapped into a new “digital ecosystem” accessible via the MyToyota app, offering subscription-based services from remote functions to music streaming.

A sportier option is also available int he form of the RAV4 GR Sport. This has dynamic chassis upgrades, and bespoke 20-inch alloys.
