The team have been working on testing and refining the 1991 Jaguar XJS project as the team get closer to getting this V12 GT car bach on the road for its owner.
‘Look into wind noise when driven. Strip offside door panel and adjust window angle so it fits rubber better. Also slide rubber weather strip along door to meet mirror backing. Repair door weathershieldsheet and refit. Secure wiring and refit door panel. Test functions OK. Slide nearside wetherstrip forward also. Check and top up coolant. Carry out road test. Better but still present. Tape up windscreen rubber and retry. Think it’s better. Slide windscreen trims along to edges. Refit trim above nearside A and B pillars. Look into nearside mirror motor broken. Tony search through stock.’
‘We have an old mirror in stock but it’s an offside one. Strip and remove motor and wiring. Cut off plugs to be able to remove fully. Strip and remove old mirror and Strip down. Clean components. Start to reassemble old mirror with new guts. Secure motor and feed wires down and out. Sort wiring ready to join. Solder and shrink wrap wires to multi plugs. Tape up when complete. Remove door weathershield and repair. Refit and fit mirror. Feed wires through and connect. Test function at this point. All works OK. Refit door panel and secure. Test all functions again, seat window etc. Fit mirror glass and adjust.’
Once all the work up to was complete, our technician Oscar has been working his way underneath the car getting the underside cleaned up as part of the cars run up to check for leaks, damage or any signs the team need to address.
