Our technician Jon has been going through the newly arrived 1972 Rover P5 Coupe in the Bridge Classic Cars restoration workshops here in Suffolk. With that, Jon has gone through the classic V8 saloon car from front to back to check the car over as well as carry out a few neccesary repairs.
‘Make earth wire for steering column rubber joint and connect across rub er. Horn still not working. Investigate horn units. Clean connections and test with power probe. 1 horn shorted inside a d not working. Other horn works fine. Reconnect and test, ok. Replace fuel hose from filter to carbs. Tighten connection to nearside front sidelight and test.‘
‘Clean and find new clevis pins for both rear door check starts. Fit and lube. Test and fit split pins to secure. Fit screw to rear number plate. Fit screw to offside chrome sill trim. Secure rear exhaust mount with new nut. Remove nearside track rod. Strip and clean. Regrease both ball joi ts and fit new ball joint rubbers. Secure with lockwire. Refit track rod and secure. Fit new split pins. Clean and lube drivers seatbelt. Work in and out several times and retracts better now. Get wipers working by moving contacts/wiring. Washers working OK.’
