Another Competition Car Gets Ready To Leave

Now that our 1976 Leyland Mini Clubman 1100 has been won through Bridge Classic Cars Competitions, Jonn has been conducting one last inspection and making some repairs before it is delivered to its new owner.

Here are Jonn’s findings:

Finish inspection. Strip offside front suspension and remove hub complete. Strip and remove top ball joint, remove shims and repack with less/thinner shims. Repeat process until play removed from ball joint but still free enough to act as a ball joint. Refit hub and Co pone etc. Torque up front hub nut to 150nm. Refit wheel and torque to 61m.

Fit new nearside front subframe mount. Inspect for any other knocks.

Remove inner rack joint from nearside. Strip old rack under my bench and fit good inner track rod to car.

Tighten inner track rod joint. Refit gaiter and secure. Refit track rod end and wheel. Carry out tracking check/adjust. Torque wheel to 61nm.

Behind The Scenes – 1980 Mini 1275 GT

Last week we ventured out with our friend and model, Hannah, to shoot our 1980 Mini 1275 GT, which you now know is one of three of our grand mini reveal. This characterful orange classic is not only fun to look at, but also fun to drive. For Hannah, it is her dream car, making her the ideal candidate to model and drive this competition car.

As usual, the team splits into two divisions with Freddie tackling the video aspects and Ellie taking on the photography. By splitting responsibilities and time like this, the team can swiftly get through multiple car shoots in a day, creating content for all our social media outlets.

As we usually do, we shot in RAF Bentwaters where we have a hanger. Driving up and down the 1.3 mile run way, we captured our videos and photos of this spritely orange classic.

We were lucky to have fair weather on this shoot after the unlucky spell of bad weather recently which makes shooting cars in difficult.

We always aim to shoot multiple galleries of each car, including the main product photos you see, the portraits and motion ones, but where we can, we also like to pick a second destination to shoot in to create a wider diversity of photos.

A Mini and Merc Maybe

This charming little Mini may be coming in soon to be recommissioned and assessed. Currently we’re at the enquiry stage but hope to see this little red motor come in soon!

And we have our 300 SL Mercedes with the usual bulkhead corrosion concerns. This could be another exciting project to come into our workshops in the coming months.

Hat Trick Winners

Last week, we had a hat trick give away! Three cars and three winners certainly kept the live draw exciting.

A big congratulations to James Colwell for winning our 1979 Mini Clubman with his lucky ticket number 850. The Mini will be making its way to Gloucester soon.

Our 1998 Jaguar XJR Supercharged was won by Sam Holmes with his ticket number 134. Our Jaguar will be prowling up to Cheshire to truly become the Cheshire Cat!

Finally, our 1999 Mercedes was won by Robert Read with ticket number 131. This lovely modern classic will soon be making its way down to Surrey!

Although Robert’s ticket number was selected, it wasn’t the first ticket number to be chosen by Google’s random number generator. The first ticket pulled was 183 was a number assigned to an unbought ticket. This just goes to show it’s worth buying those extra tickets as that could have been you!

We’ve got our 1972 MGB Roadster to give away tomorrow and with less than 400 tickets left, this beautiful Blaze Orange number is selling out fast!

This has been guaranteed for tomorrow so regardless, this car will find its new owner tomorrow! Could it be you?

Live Draws and Winners

This week we aired to live videos! One being on Wednesday night as a Hanger walk around, teasing some of the cars to come which must have enticed some extra ticket buyers as all three competition cars were drawn and won last night!

A big congratulations to James Colwell for winning our 1979 Mini Clubman with his lucky ticket number 850. Our 1998 Jaguar XJR Supercharged was won by Sam Holmes with his ticket number 134. Closer look at the Chevron

We released some details about our new Chevron B20 earlier in the week. Here’s a closer look at our new race car. We’re planning on doing an official shoot for this iconic vehicle next week, so stay tuned!

New arrival of an Austin Nippy

Yesterday we welcomed this 1934 Austin Nippy to the workshop. This little car is visiting us for an engine rebuild. We’ll be uploading more details about the car and its restoration soon!

Finishing touches on the Jaguar

As you may have seen in our previous blog, our beautiful 1973 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 Race Car project has finally been completed. This has been in progress since 2016 and this week we saw the finishing details such as these pinstripes added.

We can’t wait to start it up and photograph it! Keep an eye out for its full story and photoshoot coming next week!

New In: 1979 Mini Clubman

We’ve got another new kid on the block and this time it’s a unique 1979 Morris Austin Mini Clubman with bespoke finishing! This beautiful Mini is set to be an upcoming competition car, so keep your eyes peeled for its release!

The mini had been with Roger Moorhouse from Roger Moorhouse Classic Car Repairs in Norwich for 15 years where no expense had been spared in its restoration.

This beautiful forest green Mini Clubman holds bespoke details such as the gold alloy wheels, wood vinyl interior, and pristine green and cream interior furnishings. A fun yet practical drive for family outings and roadtrips!

It’s had to have a few interior touch-ups to get the leather looking perfect. Our Trim Shop specialists Kath and Brian have been handling those refurbishments which include a new gear stick gaiter, gluing vinyl back onto the rear board pannels, and fixing any loose material.
