The brakes have been cleaned and checked and are in very good condition. Good news!
And a slight smart repair has been carried out on the body.

Over the next couple of weeks we’ll see lots of new classics arriving at our workshops, all believed to be in fantastic condition so we are not expecting to have to carry out much work on these…but I’m sure they’ll be something!
First up, we have a super impressive Fiat X1/9 Bertone. First registered in 1986 the car was once part of a very well known collection of classic cars. The Robert Furniss Riding collection was featured quite heavily in the national press after Robert sadly passed away leaving his collection to H&H classic auction for it to be sold off, with all proceeds going to the RNLI.
The entire collection made over £1.4 million.
Part of the collection was his 1986 Fiat X1/9 Bertone but instead of this being sold off in auction, it was gifted to his friend who has been looking after it ever since.
Believed to be the only Vanden Plas in this colour combination. We believe the car requires very little work but we will put it through the workshops to get her tip top and ready for competition.
Finally, our beautifully restored 1972 MG B Roadster. This will most certainly be a popular one in our competitions. We all love an MG B Roadster and being so wonderfully presented, coming in to the summer, this will be a perfect competition prize.

Ready to Go – Work on the 1971 MG B Roadster Ready to Head Home!

The Bridge Classic Cars team have finished up the final pieces of work on the 1971 MG B Roadster to get it ready to head off to its new home.
Previously, the team went to check the timing on the classic roadster only to find the fuel pump had died. This was removed and a new unit was sent out overnight to fit onto the car. While waiting for the new pieces, the team worked on getting the front-end of the MG B perfectly aligned and tracking straight and true.
The new fuel pump was fitted onto the car and the team could begin to check the hot start on the car. During that time, our technician Jon had to carry out a small, delicate wiring repair in the distributor. After this, the car ran absolutely perfectly.
Now, with everything finished up on the beautiful convertible, it was time for it to head off to its new owner.
Nostalgia – History of the 1971 MG B Roadster

Every car has a story. The series of events from the day its first owner stared wide-eyed at their new car to the teary-eyed day they said goodbye, a cycle that repeats throughout the years, decades and generations. So, when we find an extensive and in-depth history file in the car it always makes for amazing reading.
In this case, it’s the story of the 1971 MG B Roadster. Its previous owner has meticulously catalogued his work with the car but also did something we find utterly beautiful.
The previous had managed to track down the car’s original owner! The car was collected from a local MG dealer in Colwyn Bay in Wales on the 1st of January 1971, a British Racing Green with black interior 2-seater sports car. The first owner kept the car for a few years before then selling it to a friend who also adored the car for several years before selling it on.
Inside of the history folder is several handwritten letters between the previous owners to fill in the gaps in the car’s history.
There’s also a wonderful leather-bound photo album that documents the car’s aesthetic restoration in 1989/1990.
Again, it all goes to add to the incredible history of the car and show that each and every one of our classics has a story beyond our own with our cars.

Held in Place – Removing the Radiator of the 1973 MG B Roadster

Work is continuing on the 1973 MG B Roadster that is in at Bridge Classic Cars to be recommissioned. This time, our in-house restoration technicians are looking into the cooling system. A crucial part of any classic.
The reason we needed to remove the radiator was to gain access to the water pump. This was due for replacement as Ady had noticed it begin to weep. Whilst the radiator is out, it allows our in-house team to inspect and assess the radiator itself to see if it needs any repairs or is in need of replacement.

Dawn of a New Era – Recommissioning a 1973 MGB Roadster

This 1973 MG B Roadster has come into us here at Bridge Classic Cars for just that. It is in to be recommissioned after laying dormant for a while.
Our technician Paul has begun work on getting this lovely, honest example of a true British sports car back on the road. To begin with, Paul stripped down the iconic twin-carburettors to make sure that the throaty 4 cylinder was getting all the air and fuel it needed.
With the carb refresh complete, it was a case of bolting them back up to the manifold to check the next part in the combustion cycle. The Spark.

This particular 1973 MG B Roadster has come into Bridge Classic Cars for recommissioning. It will be assessed by each of our in-house restorations teams to determine what needs to be done and in what order.
It’s lovely to see a car that is still so original but has led an honest and enjoyed life in its previous years. But, the time has come for this iconic sportscar to be bought back to its former glory.
Two Special Classics Off Home Soon

We’re delighted to announce that two of our classics have been finished and will be sent off to their owner in Germany very soon. The Tundra MG B was finished a while ago and has been sitting in storage whilst we completed the TR6 but now is the first chance we’ve had to have them both finished and side by side.
With just a few final touches to be made to the Magenta TR6, these two stunning classics will soon be ending their time with us. Watch this space…
