On Saturday 12th October 2024, we will have 2 examples of the brand-new MG Cyberster here at Bridge Classic Cars.
One will be on display in The Classic Lounge, so you can take a closer look at every aspect of the incredibly powerful sports car while the other will be available to take out for a test drive to see what it’s like to drive on the road.
There will also be members of the EMG Ipswich team on hand to answer any questions and explain the finer details of the car.
While you’re here, our bar will be open for teas, coffees, soft drinks, and our wide range of alcoholic and zero-alcohol beverages, and our workshop doors will be open for you to have a look at some of the classic cars we are currently working on.
You are welcome to join us at any time between 10:30am and 3:30pm but we ask that you book an hour timeslot below when you would like to take the Cyberster out for a test drive. This allows us to make sure everyone has enough time with the car to fully experience its potential.
Even if a test drive isn’t for you, you’re still very welcome to come and join us to take a closer look at the Cyberster and to enjoy our collection of classic cars too.
This is a completely FREE to attend event (drinks will need to be paid for at the bar on the day)
A valid driving license and national insurance number will need to be provided before your test drive commences.
Each test drive will last for a maximum of 15 minutes.

We look forward to seeing you there!
FREE for our members to attend but please RSVP below so we can keep MG Ipswich up to date.
Huge thank you, as always, to our friends at Events Under Canvas for the installation of our display stand for this weekend’s Classic and Sports Cars by the Bridge. Can’t wait to see you all at the weekend…
This weekend, the Festival of Classic & Sports Cars is taking place at Helmingham Hall.
We have been working hard over the last few days to get our stand set up and ready for the thousands of visitors that will be in attendance on Sunday.
We’ve had some help from Events Under Canvas and now, after several drives and transport trips, our stand is almost ready to welcome you all.
Last night, we hosted a very successful summer BBQ at The Classic Lounge.
The sun was shining, a huge variety of classic and modern cars showed up, and the food was delicious and extremely well received – so much so, that there weren’t even enough burgers left at the end of the night for the Bridge Classic Cars Team to enjoy!
We want to say a big thank you to Clement and Rebecca from Smashing Wines for making the food so mouthwatering and, of course, thank you to everyone who joined us last night.
We hope to see you all again very soon.
Yesterday, Molly and I had the pleasure of taking a small group on an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of Classic Team Lotus and the Lotus factory.
The day began with a cup of coffee at the main Lotus factory and a briefing from the Lotus team explaining what would happen throughout the day. We then made our way over the road to Classic Team Lotus.
Classic Team Lotus, founded by the legendary Colin Chapman, is where Lotus’s Formula 1 legacy is displayed. Here, the race cars that once dominated tracks worldwide are restored and maintained by a highly skilled team of technicians. Our guide, the extremely knowledgeable Nick Duckworth, led us through the impressive collection of classic Lotus F1 cars and told us the unique story of each one.
Highlights included seeing the Lotus 25, the car that Jim Clark drove to win the 1963 World Championship, and the Lotus 49, which was recently awarded ‘Race Car of the Century’. Nick shared the stories behind Colin Chapman’s innovative engineering principles and how they changed motor racing forever. The group had the rare opportunity to see these historic machines up close and it was certainly an experience we will all remember.
At lunchtime, we headed over to The Bird in Hand pub. This turned out to be the perfect lunch stop with Lotus being well recognised throughout the pub. There were photos, room names, and lots more nods to the unique connection between the pub and the car manufacturer just 5 minutes down the road!
After lunch, we returned to the main Lotus factory. The contrast between the historic charm of Classic Team Lotus and the modern setup of the main factory was very noticeable! In the factory, we got to see what it takes to make a brand-new Lotus every 17 minutes! From automated machines to experienced hands, it was great to see humans and machines working together to produce some of the best-looking sports cars out there.
One of the highlights of the factory tour was our visit to Workshop 3, a part of the factory normally off-limits to visitors. Inside, we had the privilege of seeing the fastest road-legal car ever to complete a lap of the Nürburgring, the Lotus Evija, being made. There will only be about 130 of these cars made and, the ones we got to see up close were a limited run of less than 10 to be made with the recognisable JPS (John Player Special) Lotus F1 livery.
There’s a strict no photography policy throughout the factory so there aren’t any photos to show but, if you get the chance to go, you really need to see the incredible setup and how smoothly the process runs from start to finish.
The entire day was fantastic. The group of people who came with us were such great people and it was a lot of fun to spend the day with fellow car enthusiasts who all seemed to enjoy the tours as much as Molly and I did.
I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who joined us and another big thank you to Nick and Scott at Lotus for giving us all an incredible day – we will definitely be back again!
“Dear Rob and Molly
Just a very brief but heartfelt thanks to you both for a splendid day on Thursday.
I thoroughly enjoyed it, and found the whole enterprise most fascinating. Thanks very much for hosting us and I am looking forward to seeing you again.”
“Many thanks for the very interesting and enjoyable visit to Lotus yesterday. It was very well planned, I enjoyed it very much albeit a bit tiring.
I look forward to another.”
We have lots more events like this coming up so if you want to join us on one of our future trips, keep an eye on our events calendar.
We are extremely pleased to announce that East Suffolk Council have allowed The Classic Lounge to extend the operating hours on a number of key events throughout the year. Thank you so much to East Suffolk Council and our neighbours for your understanding and cooperation! We look forward to seeing many many of you over the coming years at Bridge Classic Cars.
We are taking a trip to Great Northern Classics at the beginning of 2025.
Based at the former Victoria Ironworks foundry, which until recently served as the Rolls-Royce Heritage Centre, Great Northern Classics features a fully-equipped training school, workshops for 30 technicians, car storage, exhibition and entertainment space, as well as several muti-use units.
Great Northern Classics is located 16 miles from the Peak District National Park. This area of Outstanding Natural Beauty makes the journey to and from the event as stunning as it is exciting.
We will be having a tour of the site as well as a sandwich lunch and refreshments.
More details coming soon…
Last Thursday, we hosted our Sunset Classic Car & Bike Meet and it was a huge success.
It was the first time most of our guests had seen inside The Classic Lounge and we were blessed with a warm sunny evening to enjoy and admire all of the cars and bikes that joined us.
The bar was open for guests to have an evening drink and the workshop doors were up so they could get a closer look at some of the impressive classics we are currently working on.
Yesterday, we hosted a very successful Cars by the Coast event.
After meeting at the brand-new Classic Lounge at Bridge Classic Cars, we spent some time catching up with everyone, having a coffee, and, of course, admiring all of the cars that came along.
Before heading off, Nick gave everyone a short briefing about the route, where we were going, and the plan for the rest of the day.
Then we all set off to Aldeburgh via the scenic route to enjoy some time down by the coast.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, we all had a great time!
We are very excited to invite you to our wine-tasting event in The Classic Lounge at Bridge Classic Cars.
Our wine tasting event is completely FREE
We’ve teamed up with Smashing Wines who are a fantastic local wine company, to bring you a handpicked selection of their finest bottles. It doesn’t matter if you’re a regular wine drinker or simply want to try something new, the Smashing Wines team will be on hand to answer your questions and give you a taste of the type of wine you’re looking for.
Smashing Wines is the creation of Rebecca and Clement.
Rebecca has a huge amount of experience in the food and drink world as she spent seven years running a Japanese kitchen knife company before becoming the Marketing Director for Jamie Oliver’s restaurant group.
Clement grew up in Bordeaux meaning he has always had an appreciation for great wine. Each time he visited England, he noticed that the quality and price of wine did not match with those back home. There was also a noticeable absence of French natural wines. He has also been involved in the industry for many years having run both a deli and wine shop in Bordeaux and Meribel before moving to England.
Smashing Wines is all about championing small, high-quality producers, with a focus on organic and biodynamic winemakers from across France. They now have strong relationships with a wide range of winemakers and UK exclusivity on many wines – a selection of which will be available to try on the day.
The Classic Lounge is a bespoke venue designed exclusively for our guests and is also home to the Bridge Classic Cars Members Club. It offers a stylish and comfortable space for petrolheads to enjoy a drink surrounded by rare and interesting classic cars.
Our bar has a strong focus on no and low-alcohol drinks so, even if you’re the designated driver, there’s plenty of choice for you too!
Attending our wine tasting event is completely FREE. However, we ask that you RSVP below so we know how many people to expect to make sure everyone has a great time.
Since 1966, Hethel (a quiet part of Norfolk) has been home to the development of some of the most exciting and innovative cars of our time.
The Bridge Classic Cars team have organised a very special trip to Hethel to experience, first-hand, what goes on at the Lotus factory. You will get to see the entire production process up close as well as pay a visit to the test track where the Lotus cars are signed off as ready to go.
We will tour the factory, led by a knowledgeable Lotus product specialist to see the end-to-end build process, from bare chassis to completed sports car. We will then head to the local pub, The Bird in Hand for lunch and drinks (not included in price).
After lunch, we move on to a tour of Classic Team Lotus – a bespoke operation just across the road from the main Lotus HQ, it’s a separate business that’s dedicated to preserving and promoting the Lotus racing legend.
This is a fantastic opportunity to see a unique collection that includes some of the most historically significant race cars ever.
“Experience, first-hand, the production process. Witness the track, where the class-leading sports cars are put through their paces. Walk in the footsteps of the F1 greats, who so admirably filled the Lotus trophy cabinet.”
£140 per person – members will receive a 20% discount*

Thanks,

This morning, we hosted our first Networking event at Bridge Classic Cars.
Despite the rain, and it being the first day back at work after a long weekend, we welcomed a group of local professionals into The Atelier and lots of new connections were made.
While they were here, attendees enjoyed a coffee, some biscuits, a tour of the workshop (including our brand new event space which is due to open very soon), and a powerful talk from Lorna Goodwin from the RSPCA. Lorna discussed the charity’s fundraising goals and important work helping thousands of animals in need.
It was great to see so many people here at Bridge Classic Cars, networking and making new connections. We like to do our bit in supporting local businesses and we hope this was successful in doing just that.
Thank you to everyone who came along and we hope to see you all again very soon.
We recently welcomed the SCC | Private Members Club into The Atelier at Bridge Classic Cars.
While they were here, they had a look at all of our current restoration projects as well as spending a bit of time admiring each other’s cars too.
They arrived in an impressive fleet of supercars and it was great to see them all. We hope to see them again soon.
We’re excited to invite you to the Classic & Sports Cars by the Bridge event happening on Monday, 26th August 2024. This special event, hosted and organised by Suffolk Food Hall, is all about bringing together car enthusiasts for a great cause—raising money for Cancer Support Suffolk. As the headline sponsor, we are thrilled to be a part of this fundraising event.
Cancer Support Suffolk is a charity that we have a special connection with. Many of us at Bridge Classic Cars have been personally touched by cancer, whether through our own battles or supporting loved ones through theirs. That’s why we’re determined to make this event a success and raise as much money as possible to help those who need it most.
As part of our efforts, we have launched a competition where you can win a stunning 1990 Jaguar XJ6 for just £5.00. All proceeds from the ticket sales will go directly to Cancer Support Suffolk, so every entry counts. It’s not just about winning a beautiful car; it’s about supporting a cause that impacts so many lives.
While registrations for display cars have closed, you can still join us on the day. There’s plenty of space in the large parking area where you can showcase your car and be part of the celebration. Whether you’re bringing a sports car, a classic or just coming to enjoy the day and admire the 250 cars being displayed, we look forward to seeing you there.
See you on the 26th!

The Times voted it ‘One of the top UK city breaks’ and we at Bridge Classic Cars 100% agree.
This weekend, I ventured out with the family to spend a long weekend in the incredible city of Cardiff.
Admittedly there weren’t many classic cars to see, nor were there any unusual cars either but the scenery and character certainly didn’t disappoint.
I didn’t know really what to expect from a weekend in Cardiff but it left me wanting more.
Incredible places to visit, eat, shop and explore…the streets were a hive of activity all day and all night.
We took a trip to Techniquest for an afternoon. ‘Set on the waterfront in the heart of Cardiff Bay, Techniquest has over 100 hands-on exhibits that let you experience science, technology, engineering and maths in a fun and exciting way.’
Thank you Cardiff for a wonderful weekend and we will most certainly be seeing you again. We just need a few classic cars to see too!

Twinwood is always the highlight of my calendar year and 2023 did not disappoint. The execution of such a warm and welcoming festival was done in an organised manner with the friendliest of marshals (Ernie, I’m looking at you).
The weekend was filled with lots of music spanning many eras and genres, music hall classics merged into musical theatre for a cockney sing-a-long, rock and roll, jazz, acoustic original bands and even an Abba tribute to headline on Saturday evening. There are many different venues available within the festival, some more intimate, some on a massive scale. Even though the weather was wet and typically British this did not deter those from the outside stages. The partying continued in the rain!
With good music comes dancing and the dance floors were fit to burst. There were many dancing with partners but many strolls offered the opportunity for those dancing on their own, there were also many dance lessons available to beginners and more accomplished dancers alike. I had lessons in Charleston, jive, waltz and the shag. After a few squashed toes, we got the hang of it.
There were lots of great options for food and drink including an onsite pub, the Nags Head. The Split Screen Ice Cream Co. was selling luxury scoops from their classic VW camper and I sampled the Vegan Salted Caramel which was to die for, I also sampled every cocktail from The Tiki bar… just for quality checking of course.
The sense of community at Twinwood really begins on the campsite. Many of the pitches are modern however there are also some classic gems amongst them. There were some great examples of World War 2 tents dotted around showing the quality of manufacture by standing the test of time, there were also several classic air streams including one that was decorated to resemble a beach! One gentleman even towed his rather large vintage caravan with his lovely red Pontiac.
I was lucky enough to speak to him about his Pontiac, it is just one of the many classics he owns alongside his Buick to name one. He has lovingly restored this vehicle himself by sourcing things such as the badges individually and carrying out the mechanical work. He outsourced the paint job and altogether it is a smashing example of a well-loved classic. The Pontiac was lined up alongside a handful of other cars, including my favourite, a Vauxhall Cresta (I’d like one in two-tone pink if anyone is looking for Christmas presents for me.) A Ford Consul, a 1951 Riley, Chevrolet Truck and an Austin Healey were a few of the others on display. I also enjoyed having a look around some US Military Vehicles.
Lots of the attendees dressed up to the nines, many dapper gentlemen in suits of a bygone era and ladies wearing everything from heritage tweed to flapper sequins to fluffy petticoats. I made many purchases including a much lusted-after pair of saddle shoes, a few dresses and a brooch that looks like me! There were vintage items for all and if you fancied something brand new and inspired by vintage fashions, vendors like Rock N Romance have you covered.
All in all a great weekend was had by all and I can highly recommend it to anyone who likes great music and lovely people.
Bridge Classic Cars Managing Director, Craig recently spent the day with his family at Wattisham Air Field, for a family fun day.
While at the event, Craig took some photos of the wide range of military vehicles, entertainment, and family-inspired activities that were ongoing, including a flyover from the iconic Red Arrows.
Craig and his family had a fantastic day and will certainly be going back again next time.
