Getting Some Sun

Our 1984 Suzuki GSX 400T was able to enjoy some time in the sun recently. After being in the workshop of JAL Restorations for a while, it has finally been able to be photographed outside in the sunshine!

It’s always exciting to get updates on this special project and we love seeing the bike outside and moving closer to being back out on the road again at some point in the future.

New Shocks For Our Suzuki

The new shocks for our 1984 Suzuki GSX 400T have finally arrived!

To make them fit as they need to, a new upper mount will need to be made on the drive side. The stub to the collar on the frame will need grinding off so it can be drilled out and a new one welded in. On the other side of the bike, a spacer and dome note should be all that is needed.

Progress Images

After the recent progress update that we received from JAL Restorations about our 1984 Suzuki GSX400, we have now received some images of the bike too.

As this is a custom project, the classic motorcycle will continue to change its appearance and transform into the bike that Bridge Classic Cars Director, Craig is looking to build.

Sold On MyClassics.co.uk – 1961 Francis Barnett Trials

Our very special bike has recently left the Bridge Classic Cars workshop after being sold on MyClassics.co.uk

This is a very rare bike that is an original Francis Barnett factory 250cc model.

After undergoing restoration work on pretty much every part of this bike, it was an enjoyable experience to see it drive out of the workshop and into the hands of its new owner.

Our 1961 Francis Barnett Trials left us to travel to Coven, Staffordshire where we hope it will cover many more miles with its new owner.

Before it left, we started the bike up one more time and experienced this very special bike before we waved goodbye to it.

Behind the Scenes – Live Draw of REC Icon 1000 TTT Watch & 2020 Triumph Street Twin

This was a very specialist live draw at Bridge Classic Cars Suffolk HQ. It was the first live draw of the newest member of our team, Molly.

With the support of the entire team here at our restoration workshops behind her, it was time to start the live stream to all of our friends and followers across the internet.

To begin with, Freddie and Molly went through a bit about her background and how she ended up becoming the newest member of the team here at Bridge. Then, it was time for a look around some of the incredible machinery we have in our competition building. The recently launched Dodge Viper pulling all the attention from everything else in the room… but the team to the chance to have a look around some of the other pieces we have in currently including the wonderful 1950 Land Rover Series 1 being prepared for auction by our restoration workshop.

But, it was time for us to find out who the lucky new owners of our special edition watch and Street Twin were.

First up – the watch. As the team got the Google Random Number Generator up on the screen, the anticipation built. After going through a quick test run to make sure everything was working as it should and so everyone watching along could see clearly, it was time to find out who the lucky new owner of this very special watch was. With number set, it was now down to fate.

With a whir on the screen, the final number appeared. 401. This ticket had been bought by Graham Suttill, the lucky new owner of the REC Icon 1000TTT Watch.

Then it was time to go straight into the main event. Finding out who the new owner of our 2020 Triumph Street Twin was. As Molly reset the number in the random number generator, we wished everyone good luck. And then with one click, it was decided. Barry Druce had just won our 2020 Triumph Street Twin with ticket number 874.

Behind the Scenes – Photoshoot with the 2021 FB Mondial 300

The latest addition to the Bridge Classic Cars Competitions line-up is this amazing 2021 FB Mondial 300. A retro-inspired sports bike that looks as good as it rides.

After being inspected by the workshop to check over each and every system on the bike, it was time to get it out to our filming location to get everything ready for the next competition.

This photoshoot was unique, in that it involved multiple riders. For this competition, we teamed up with the awesome Bike Like a Mum. Karina is a friend of Bridge Classic Cars who began her journey into the world of motorcycle riding and is documenting it across her social media channels.

Karina was the first rider. Although she had countless hours on her loyal 125cc, we got her to grab the 249cc sports bike by the scruff of the neck to film with. Throughout her time with the bike, she noted just how easy and long-legged this particular bike was and just how easy it was for a beginner rider to get to grips with and build up their confidence.

After that, it was time for Hayley’s turn on the FB Mondial 300. She jumped straight on and within a minute was comfortable with the motorbike to begin filming. During the shoot, Hayley also noted just how smooth and easy the bike feels going down the road for any rider of any experience.

Finally, our director Craig put his leathers on and had a go on the jet black retro-motorcycle down the runway of our filming location. And just like everyone who had ridden it, he came back smiling.

Behind the Scenes – Photoshoot with Bike Like a Mum and the FB Mondial 300

For our latest Bridge Classic Cars Competitions offering, we have teamed up with local motorcycle enthusiast and vlogger – Bike Like a Mum.

Karina has been a friend of Bridge Classic Cars for quite a while and this was the perfect project to team up together for. The 2021 FB Mondial is that project.

It’s a retro-inspired sports bike that is low, comfortable and its 249cc engine gives enough power and grunt to be perfectly useable for either fun or for commuting. Karina’s story into motorcycling begins with her connection to several family members who had been involved in motorcycling throughout her life. As time went on, Karina decided it was time to get involved.

She went out and passed her CBT and bought her first motorcycle, a 125cc commuter which she has ridden all the way to Wales! So, she was the first person we called to try out the FB Mondial outside of the Bridge Classic Cars Competitions team.

So, on a sunny winter’s morning, the whole team and Karina got together at our secure storage facility The Hangar. The plan was to shoot videos for both the latest Bridge Classic Cars Competitions offering, the 2021 FB Mondial and for Karinas series of videos across her social media channels under the name Bike Like a Mum.

Back From Rebuild – The Carburettors for the 1977 Honda GL1000 Goldwing

The carburettors for Gordon, our directors, 1977 Honda GL1000 Goldwing are back from blasting and have been freshly rebuilt.

These are over at Chris Self Motorcycles with the rest of the bike being restored and rebuilt back to its original condition. The carburettors on the Goldwing are crucial for the 1000cc horizontally opposed 4 cylinder so they have been completely gone through by Chris Self to make sure there is no residual dirt anywhere within the carburettors.

If you like classic motorcycle restorations, keep an eye on the Bridge Classic Cars news page for more updates on the 1977 Honda GL1000 Goldwing.

Francis Barnett Up And Running

Our 1953 Francis Barnett Rigid Body Trials motorbike was having some issues starting, so we had John take a look who quickly diagnosed the issue as dirt and debris getting caught in the carburettor.

New In: Francis Barnett

This 1953 Francis Barnet Rigid Body motorbike was delivered to us yesterday. For those with keen ears, you may have heard Craig mention an upcoming bike to the competitions. Stay tuned to find out where this bike is heading.

Although Craig managed to briefly start it up, it needs some attention to get it running smoothly. It currently has ten-year-old fuel sat in the tank that needs replacing and the electrics need a small amount of re-wiring. Other than these small amends, it’s good to go!
