The carburettors on the 1972 MG Midget have been stripped down and cleaned to get the classic convertible running properly.
Upon inspection, the team noted that the needles fitted to the carburettors were incorrect. So, new ones were placed on order. Whilst waiting for the new units to arrive, our technician Jon stripped apart the carburettors and thoroughly cleaned them through.
Once the correct needles had arrived, Jon could get them set correctly in the bodies and then could begin to refit them onto the engine of the classic MG.
The workshop team at Bridge Classic Cars have been working on several key pieces of the 1978 MG B GT in for restoration with us at our Suffolk HQ.
Firstly, our technician Rob has made up an all-new rear bumper box section for the classic MG. This piece was heavily corroded so the team made a new piece which made up the rear bumper and crash structure in the car.
Next, the team got to work on the front cross-member. This, over time, had developed some hairline cracks in the thinnest areas near the mounting tabs. So, Rob has carefully and methodically rewelded these areas making sure to add in material to strengthen certain parts of the component.

To begin with, the classic MG will have a full service before the team turn their attention to getting the roadster running properly. Also, they will carry out a full inspection and assessment of the car.

The 1978 MG B GT has moved from the workshop into the Bridge Classic Cars preparation area for our paint and body team to start work.
With all the metal work and repairs complete on the bodyshell, the classic sports car has been transferred into the paint and body department for the team to begin preparing the body for the next phase of its restoration.
We’re excited to show you the beginning of the next phase of the journey with the 1978 MG B GT very soon.

For many years, we have gone to the Kersey Mill meet. And this year, our director Gordon took his newly finished 1934 MG Midget PA to the 2022 Drive It Day meet. Surrounded by countless classics from across our area, some of whom we know well and others we’re excited to get to know.
It is an event on the calendar that we always look forward to. So, take a look below for our full gallery from the 2022 Drive It Day at Kersey Mill.
All of the works on the 1934 MG PA have been completed by the Bridge Classic Cars restoration teams just in time for the beautiful pre-war sports car to be used over the summer.
The team at Bridge Classic Cars have worked on this classic MG from front to back. The first updates are the new spotlights that adorn the beautiful chrome lightbar between the front wings which now have its all-important touring badges. These were wired into the car to make the car more useable and keep to the era, our director Gordon sourced these period-correct pieces specifically for the car.
The next changes to the classic MG PA happen in the cockpit. The team have worked on fitting the new dials and gauges into the car. The new temperature dial is connected to the new temperature sender to make sure the overall health of the car is easily visible. Along with that, the Breitling stopwatch has been fitted to the dash. This is an important part of the cabin as this style of stopwatch would have been used in classic rallying. To improve the useability and safety of the car, the team have fitted the PA with modern lap belts. A key safety component for any vintage car is to make sure the seat belts are made of the latest tear-resistant fabrics to make sure that even with the fun of driving, it’s still safe.
With all of these bits now finished on Gordon’s 1934 MG PA, it’s ready to be used over the summer. Keep an eye out for updates on this wonderful car’s travels.
The Bridge Classic Cars restoration teams have been continuing work on the metal repairs to the 1978 MG B GT.
Our technician, Rob, has been systematically carrying on with removal and repairs to the body shell and doors for the classic sports car. Rob has worked on remaking several key flanges and plates which had corroded away on the car and would be needed not only for the structure but also for the alignment of the panels once the MG B enters our in-house body shop.

The workshop team at Bridge Classic Cars have been working on fitting the new cooling system into the 1952 MG TD.
Jon, one of our technicians, has fitted up the new thermostat housing for the car to make sure the wonderful 4-cylinder engine that sits at the heart of the TD is cool. Along with the new thermostat, he made up new coolant hoses which have been routed and sized perfectly for the engine bay of the TD.
The 1968 MGC Roadster is being worked on by the Bridge Classic Cars in-house restoration team to get the classic sports car running just right.
After road tests, the car was running slightly off so Jon set about adjusting the carburettors to get the 6-cylinder running perfect. Upon inspection, he found that 2 out of the 3 carburettors were flooding and allowing too much fuel into the chamber. After adjusting the rest floats, Jon could then work on adjusting and synchronising all 3 carburettors together and ran the car to check the issue had been rectified.
The 1957 MG A Roadster has been treated to a full silver valet by the amazing team at Viper Auto Valet here at our Suffolk HQ.
Colin, the owner of Viper, carefully washed down the car to remove any contaminants from the paint before meticulously machine polishing to enhance the beautiful gloss of the vibrant red paintwork.

The 1952 MG YB in the Bridge Classic Cars workshop has come into our restoration team for a brake service.
Rob carefully took apart the brakes on the classic MG saloon to inspect all the shoes, seals, cylinders and hardware. Upon inspection of the front brakes, he discovered the wheel cylinders to be leaking and had soaked into the shoe material. So a new set of shoes and cylinders were installed into the front and adjusted out.
At the rear, the cylinders, shoes and hardware were all in good order and just required a rebuild and adjustment. After this, the brake system was bled ahead of it beginning road tests and adjustments if needed.
The 1968 MGC Roadster in the Bridge Classic Cars restoration workshop has had its new stereo and speakers installed into the interior of the classic convertible.
Jon has been working on carefully running the wiring throughout the car from the rear pillars under the carpets and inside of the centre console to the new head unit for the stereo. With all of the wiring run, Jon could work on getting the head unit into place and wired up to the speakers to begin testing it.
This stunning 1974 MGB GT V8 has just arrived into the Bridge Classic Cars restoration workshops at our Suffolk HQ.
The car has come for various bits and pieces such as an oil change for both the engine and gearbox, a coolant flush and an MOT. But the team have also been asked to have a look into some electrical issues with the car which cause the car to suddenly lose power.
The team will look into the electrical issue to begin with on the car and assess the entire car to make sure everything is 100% on such an iconic classic sports car for its owner.

The bodywork on the 1978 MGB GT which is in for restoration with Bridge Classic Cars continues while the rest of the car is being worked on by the various other restoration departments.
The bodywork on the car has been worked on piece by piece, with any remnants of corrosion or rust completely removed from the shell of the classic sports car.
Using replacement patch panels, the areas were carefully cut out and the metal replaced piece by piece.
The trim team at Bridge Classic Cars have turned their attention back to the interior of the 1968 MGC Roadster.
Brian has been renewing the wooden veneers which cover the face of the dashboard as well as the centre console. After these were all secured in place, it was the job of carefully refitting all of the trim pieces and brightwork back into place on this truly beautiful and rare MGC Roadster.
The restoration technicians in the Bridge Classic Cars workshop have the fantastic 1968 MGC Roadster currently on the ramp to complete several jobs on the car. This time, it’s tidying up the wiring in the engine bay.
Jon has been methodically going through the wiring under the bonnet of the classic convertible sports car to make sure everything not only works correctly but is safely routed around the engine bay. System by system, he has grouped together separate parts of the harness and shielded them where necessary.

Our technician Jon has been getting a series of jobs completed on the rare roadster ahead of its departure from the workshop. Jon has been adjusting the door handles for the car and realigning the strikers so that when the handle is pulled or the door is pushed back into place there’s no binding up of any of the mechanisms.
He has also been making sure all of the rear lights are secured into the car and that each and every function of the clusters works just at it should do.
With the 1952 MG TD project finished, Bridge Classic Cars thought we would take this time to talk about this incredible classic sports car.
This MG TD only had to have a single repair done to its roof. Upon inspection by our restoration technicians, that was the only item that needed attention. Everything else on the 70-year-old sports car was in amazing condition thanks to its full restoration in 1978 and the regular maintenance given to it by its previous owners.

The Bridge Classic Cars Competitions team took this stunning little sports car out to the airfield to do its photoshoot. This car is a true reminder for any enthusiasts about the joy of driving, the elegant simplicity of these early sports cars.
As the chirpy 4 cylinder engine buzzed along the runway, the whole team couldn’t help but smile as the classic sports car drove through the forest near our storage facility, The Hangar.

The 1952 MG TD in the Bridge Classic Cars workshop has been having its convertible roof fixed by our in-house trim shop.
Brian, one of our trim experts, has been working on removing the original webbing straps before replacing them with all new pieces. For this, Brian has had to remove the convertible roof in order to properly remove the complete straps.
The straps themselves are attached to the body at the rear which Brian had to carefully undo so the new pieces could be put in. With the new pieces, Brian could put the whole roof back together and fitted up perfectly.
