The Winners Circle – David Takes Delivery of His 1993 Land Rover Defender 90

It’s only been a couple of days since the live draw of our 1993 Land Rover Defender 90 but the Bridge Classic Cars transport team have already delivered the car to its new owner, David, in Scotland.

The team made the trip north from our Suffolk HQ with the off-roader strapped down onto our open trailer, this is only used very rarely when a car physically will not fit in our enclosed transporter. But, the team made the driver to a very excited and expectant David who was thrilled to receive his new Defender.

The Bridge Classic Cars Competitions team have just launched this! Our 1969 Sunbeam Rapier.

The team took the fully inspected Rapier fastback to our filming location to begin getting the necessary photos and videos to bring you the latest competition car.

The bright red coupe looked incredible in the summer sun. Its paintwork is only complemented further by the exceptional black interior and black/silver wheels.

The 1.7-litre 4-cylinder engine pulled strong as it made its way across the ex-airfield. The twin Weber carburettors gave their signature snarl with every blip of the throttle much to the delight of the team. It was a perfect machine for the best time of year. A low-slung and sleek fastback. A micro-muscle car with strong, chiselled looks but on a delicate and nimble scale.

What’s the Story? – Why the MG A is a Sports Car Icon

Seeing as how our 1957 MG A Roadster is going to be won tomorrow, we thought we would take a look at some interesting facts about the MG A and why it is so important in the world of sports cars.

Firstly, the MG A was born with motorsports at its heart. In the years following WWII, MG wanted to be more involved in competition and gain a presence across the world at every level of motorsport. So, they began to develop sportscars with racing in mind which would ultimately lead to the creation of the MG A.

Another fact about the MG A’s past, it was always intended to be exported. Since the MG TD & TF’s, MG wanted more of a foothold in the American sports car market. Post-WWII, the Americans had experienced these new adventures in speed and handling thanks to the lightweight, nimble and progressive sportscars they had been exposed to during their time in Europe.

The MG A would be a new and radical departure from the pre-war and immediate post-war sports cars. Gone were the days of archaic and traditional handling, only to be replaced by new, modern ways of thinking. Fully independent suspension at the front for better control, and a new sleek and stylish body. Its chassis was an all-new affair, gone were the days of up-right and ‘traditional’ drivers positions – replaced with low-slung bucket seats for better feel.

Even the looks of the MG A are based in motorsport. The styling of the MG A was based on a 1951 Le Mans car. People were so taken aback by this new way of thinking and styling by MG that the car was green-lit for development.

So, in 1955 MG took the decision to debut its new sports car in full competition. 3 MG A 1500 Roadsters were entered into the 24 hours of Le Mans. 2 of the 3 cars would finish, proving their endurance and competitiveness.

From there, the legend of the MG A would only grow further. Beloved by club racers, speed junkies and back-road warriors throughout the generations. The MG A sits in a special place in a petrol-fuelled Shangri-La.

Behind the Scenes – Live Draw of the 1993 Land Rover Defender 90

Slightly out of synch with the usual competition calendar this week. The Bridge Classic Cars team are bringing you two live draws! This Thursday the 1957 MG A Roadster and 1997 Rover Mini will be won at 7pm on our Facebook page. But last night, we found out who the lucky new owner of our 1993 Land Rover Defender was.

At 7pm exactly, the team went live across the internet. In the hour previously, it almost looked like the Mini was going to be drawn too! But, while we waited to see if this was going to happen Hayley and Freddie took all our amazing followers on a look around the stable of stunning classics which are kept safe and dry in our new competition building. Some of these are customers’ cars which have either been finished by our restoration workshops or are in storage while parts are on their way to our Suffolk HQ.

But, a few of them may or may not be upcoming competition cars…

After going around the eclectic mix of incredible machines, it was time for the team to find out the future of the 1993 Land Rover Defender 90. The competition had actually sold out early that day, so just like all of our competitions the entry lists are published on our website with every ticket number that had been bought with the corresponding name.

To find out who would be getting this stunning Corris Grey off-roader delivered directly to their door, the team use Google Random Number Generator. So, after testing that everything was working correctly with numbers outside the criteria. Hayley entered for the programme to choose between 1 and 3499. With a single click of the button, we had a winner.

Ticket number 2525 – The lucky number allocated to David. As always, we do try to contact the winners live on the Facebook stream but we had to leave David a voicemail to let him know the amazing news.

Behind the Scenes – Live Draw of the 1968 Morris Minor Van

Last night, Bridge Classic Cars Competitions found out who the lucky winner of the 1968 Morris Minor Van was and as always, we live streamed it on our Facebook page!

Moments before the live stream started, the classic Morris van sold out completely!

The night began with a walkaround of our new competitions building with Hayley and Freddie showing everyone watching along what we’ve got coming up and what is currently live on our Competitions website.

Then, Hayley handed over to our director Craig for a brief tour around our restoration workshop to show you a very special moment where we had 3 Jensen 541’s in for work, all in different stages of their build. From a bare chassis back from sandblasting to a full rebuilt frame and then a finished and complete 541R.

But, it was time to give the audience what they had been waiting for. Finding out just who had won the classic Morris Minor Van. So, using our random number generator and pre-published entry list the team began the process.

As Hayley input the numbers between 1 and 4199 in the number generator the anticipation built. Messages of luck were shared between total strangers on the internet wishing each other well. Then with one click of a button, the new owner had been found.

Robert Cargill had been allocated ticket 1124 – The number that had appeared on the random number generator and checked against our entry list.

After finding his details, Hayley gave him a ring live on the Facebook stream with possible the best reaction we have ever had to a competition. Robert and his wife were absolutely ecstatic with their new classic Morris Minor!

Behind the Scenes – Photoshoot with the 1957 MG A Roadster

The Bridge Classic Cars team want to take you behind the scenes as we photographed and videoed our latest competition car, the gorgeous 1957 MG A Roadster.

The team have been taken advantage of the incredible weather recently to drop the roof on the MG A and head out to shoot it. The stunning 1950s sports car is a former Monte Challenge entrant and it feels every bit like a classic race car. The small, purposeful cabin with its aged red leather seats sit at the centre point of the car. You drop into the small, low bucket seats before reaching around to put on the complimenting beige harnesses and then push the start button.

The 1.5-litre 4-cylinder engine bursts into life with a rumble and thump. The small, closely placed pedals work alongside the large steering wheel to feedback every sensation to its fortunate driver. Its exterior is simply put, beautiful.

The vibrant red paintwork set against the dark green of the pine trees that surround the car makes it shimmer and glow as the light moves across its low-slung bodywork.

Nostalgia – Photos of the 1968 Austin Morris Minor Van’s Restoration by its Previous Owner

The simple van is both humble and proud. It’s a reliable workhorse which has transported generations of trade and ferried countless numbers of people into their automotive journey. This 1968 Austin Morris Minor Van is much the same.

Beloved by its previous owner, its intention in life was to go and join its owner in their new life in France but as is much the way, things changed. The car was due to have a left-hand drive conversion carried out ahead of its family relocating who wanted to take the classic Moggy with them. But, it never ended up happening.

Previous to this, however, the car was given a full restoration in what appears to be the late 1990s/early 2000s. Included in the history file which accompanies the classic Austin Morris Minor Van are these series of photographs taken when all the work was carried out. Showing it in its previous colour of pale blue, the owner had the car changed over to the Sage over Old English Cream that we see the car in today. The panels were stripped back and reworked to make the classic Moggy as close to perfection as possible.

The car was obviously adored by its owner. The classic van performed both its uses though, being used as a way for its owner to transport their artwork from place to place while simultaneously partnering with them on their journey through life, as is much the way with the classic we bring into our lives.

Whether it be sentimental or a long-held adoration, we bring these classic cars into our own stories and their stories cross over into another pathway, and another, and another throughout their lives. But, each holds a place in so many hearts and minds.

The Winners Circle – Winner of the 1972 Lotus Elan +2 Takes Delivery

The winner of the Bridge Classic Cars 1972 Lotus Elan +2 took delivery of his classic sports car yesterday just in time for summer.

Steven, who won the classic Lotus Elan, entered to win the car and his number was drawn! Part of the prize is also having the car delivered right to your driveway. And what a driveway this now is with the beautiful Elan sat there.

We wish Steven many happy miles with the car and all the best.

Behind the Scenes – Live Draw of the 1985 Jaguar Sovereign V12

First of all, congratulations to David! He won the 1985 Jaguar Sovereign V12 during last night’s draw with ticket number 2631 but, along with the live draw the team gave all of our audience a look around some of the other cars stored in our new building.

The Jaguar Sovereign V12 was the main event of the evening but it was surrounded by either current or possible future competition cars and some amazing restoration/customer cars we keep on site. Hayley and Freddie went all through the classic Jaguar showing everyone watching along on the live stream the fine details and modern luxuries which came as standard when the Sovereign V12 was new.

Then, Hayley handed it over to Nick who went through a little bit about our new online classic sales platform MyClassics. An overview of how, why, what and where it exactly is and that it sits with the enthusiasts at heart, whether that be buying or selling a classic it was designed just for them.

A quick look around the fantastic and eclectic mix of classics stored in our new building from a customers 1932 Lagonda Tourer in for our incredible trim team to work on all the way to a modern Triumph Street Twin motorcycle.

But, everyone watching along wanted to know the answer to the ultimate question which hung in the air. Who did the 1985 Sovereign V12 belong to? We also wanted to find out. Heading over to the screen, the team began that process.

Using our pre-published entry lists (these are generated after ticket sales close or the competition sells out) the team verified that the tickets were within the range of between 1 and 3333. Then, it was over to the Google Random Number Generator to let lady luck take control. Hayley set the criteria and as the screen became awash with whirring numbers, the anticipation rose.

Finally, it landed on a number. 2631.

Consulting the entry list, that particular ticket number had been purchased by David Graham. The new owner of the 1985 Jaguar Sovereign V12. So, as we do with all our live draws we gave him a ring to give him the good news.

When David answered, he was thrilled. He had entered for the Sovereign after always wanting a classic to join in with his friends who restore and enjoy classics up in Scotland and now he has his Jaguar V12 to get involved in the fun!

The Winners Circle – Winner of the 1973 Triumph TR6 Comes to Collect Her Car

Yesterday, the Bridge Classic Cars team welcomed Valerie to our restoration workshop to collect her 1973 Triumph TR6 she won through Bridge Classic Cars Competitions.

Valerie came down to take delivery of her beautiful Saffron Yellow TR6 and to have a look around our workshops at some of our restoration projects. Whilst she was collecting the car, we found out it was Valerie’s birthday! What a day it would be. Valerie, her son and her partner made the trip from Norfolk to collect the car and drive it home.

It’s always an incredible part of the story when you get to see someone’s reaction for the first time seeing their new classic in the metal for the first time. As Valerie said, the morning after she had won the car she still couldn’t believe it and had to ask if she had actually won it. This isn’t the first car Valerie won however, in 1991 she won a brand new Rover Metro through a competition by Heinz.

Still, this TR6 is a beautiful addition to the family so this morning Valerie sent us over a photo of ”Caramac” alongside the family Delorean in its new home.

We all want to wish Valerie many happy miles and hope she enjoys her new classic.

Behind the Scenes – Shooting our 1968 Morris Minor Van

It’s the latest competition from Bridge Classic Cars! This wonderful 1968 Morris Minor Van is now up for grabs on the Bridge Classic Cars Competitions website.

Since all the work had been completed on the classic Morris van by our workshop, it was time to get it ready for competition.

With this, we thought we would take you behind the scenes on the shoot with the Bridge Classic Cars team. Craig, Freddie and Monty headed out to Bentwaters to shoot the classic van under the Suffolk sun.

The little 4-cylinder engine burbled its way round the countryside for lap after lap as the team moved around the site to capture the various stills and video clips that we need for our competitions but every one of us had a huge smile thanks to this beautiful van.

Behind the Scenes – Live Draw of the 1972 Lotus Elan and Lotus Emira Driving Experience

The Bridge Classic Cars team got together on a Friday night to find our latest winners for our double Lotus draw.

The 1972 Lotus Elan +2 had been a firm favourite with the team here.

The 10th of June, the scheduled draw date, began with a quick walkaround of all of the beautiful machinery in the new competitions building. Walking past previous winners waiting for their delivery to new homes and some upcoming dream classics that we caretaker until their new owners are decided.

With our audience watching along live of our Facebook page, it was time to get down to business. Everyone waited with bated breath to find out if the wheel of fortune would fall on them.

First to be drawn was the Lotus Emira Driving Experience donated by Lotus Cars in aid of various charities. This included a tour of the new production facility, Classic Team Lotus and driving tuition by F1 hero Martin Donnelly. Checking our pre-published Entry Lists, we saw the competition wasn’t sold out entirely but using the random number generator, it was time to find out who was getting this very special first drive experience.

The first try, was an empty number. So was the second try, and the third, fourth but on the 5th random number generator we found that number 426 had been allocated to Martyn Bulbrook.

Finally, it was time to decide the winner of the 1972 Lotus Elan +2. The team reset the number generator and comments of luck and hope flooded the live stream. As Hayley pushed the button and the numbers whirred past in a frenzy, the screen lit up with the number. 1944.

Ticket number 1944 had been bought by Steven Rowat. The new owner of the beautiful 1972 Lotus Elan +2.

The saying attached to Lotus and it’s core DNA, Simplify, and then add lightness. That is what the Lotus Elan personifies.

The low slung, lightweight sports car looked incredible in the summer sun. Its bright red paintwork contrasted against the rich green of the pine trees that lined the south loop of our filming location. This is our 1972 Lotus Elan +2 and it’s the latest competition car from Bridge Classic Cars.

The legendary Lotus Twin Cam 4-cylinder provided the soundtrack for our days’ filming. The raspy billow found its way to every surface and bounced back for the world to enjoy. The nimble sports car is known for its characteristic handling and this example is no different. The small racing steering wheel feels directly connected to the front wheels which helps to perfectly place the slant nosed 70s sports car exactly where it is intended.

You can’t help but smile wildly while experiencing the Elan. It gives so much feedback to its driver that you truly become one with the machine, the intended purpose of all Lotus cars. The driver is at the centre of the world.

Behind the Scenes – Live Draw of the 1980 Supercharged Mini Van

Last night, Bridge Classic Cars went to find out who the lucky new owner of our 1980 Supercharged Mini Van was.

At 7PM live on our Facebook page, we welcomed our followers watching along to our competition build which houses all of our competition cars and a couple of our personal cars and finished restoration projects. To begin with, we began our live stream from the inside of our new 1993 Land Rover Defender 90.

Then, Hayley and Freddie took everyone around the various cars which are held inside the building at our Suffolk HQ. Including the beautiful Saffron Yellow 1973 Triumph TR6 and the 1972 Lotus Elan +2. Of course, we couldn’t miss out on the car everyone was there for, the 1980 Supercharged Mini Van.

After the look around, it was time to find out who the new owner of this tiny terror was. The competition had sold out the day before so the entry list, as with all of our entry lists, is pre-published on our website for all to see. With 4999 tickets, we fired up the Random Number Generator.

With the parameters set, with one click of a button the fate of the Mini was sealed.

Its new owner was Peter with ticket 4529.

The team will give the Mini its pre-delivery inspection and one final check over before it is delivered straight to Peter.

Behind the Scenes – Live Draw of the 1985 Porsche 911, TAG Heuer Carrera & 2007 Jaguar XKR at Beach Street Felixstowe

With the weather getting better and better, the Bridge Classic Cars Competitions team decided to change things up a little bit. For this, we took our latest competition cars down to Beach Street in Felixstowe to find out who the lucky winners were of our amazing 1985 Porsche 911, TAG Heuer Carrera and the 2007 Jaguar XKR.

The setting was perfect by the coast as the late spring sun began to move back towards the horizon. The team set up the cars ready to show everyone online and everyone at Beach Street to look around, including a newly launched 1980 supercharged Mini Van.

After the usual walk around, it was time to find out who’s lucky day it really was. The team input the numbers for the Google Random Number Generator to choose from and then with a single click, it was done.

The winners:

  • 2007 Jaguar XKR – William Pearson with Ticket Number 3102

Behind the Scenes – Shooting the 2007 Jaguar XKR

The Jaguar XKR is the perfect example of a wolf in sheep’s clothing. An elegant, sophisticated coupe with the heart of a wild animal hidden underneath its long, flowing aluminium bonnet.

The XKR is special in that the 4.2-litre V8 has been fitted with a supercharger to get more power and more torque directly to the rear wheels. Our 2007 Jaguar XKR, is finished in a beautiful bright silver with a contrasting black leather interior, adding yet another level to its hidden talents.

The team at Bridge Classic Cars Competitions were beyond excited to bring this car up to our filming location and shoot the car ahead of its launch. It had been through our restoration workshop to be checked over and given the green light for the team to drive it for filming.

The weather was perfect for this type of car. Bright sun with a few banks of clouds drifting across the Suffolk countryside while the air filled with a V8 rumble only broken by the characteristic whine of the supercharger. The leather seats, modern controls and easy handling made the XKR a perfect car for any occasion.

For lap after lap, Hayley rumbled her way around the film site with the XKR not so much as even breaking a sweat but underneath, you could tell the big coupe just wanted to stretch its legs but was more than happy to lazily drift around the circuit.

Behind the Scenes Photos of the 1985 Porsche 911 Shoot

It’s a dream car to many, a hero to some and an icon to all. It’s also the latest Bridge Classic Cars Competition. The 1985 Porsche 911.

After the inspection of the car by the restoration teams and given the green light, the car was released to Freddie, Hayley and Nick to begin the process of shooting this legendary air-cooled Porsche 911. the team headed to our filming location to get to work and just to experience this incredible driving machine.

The day was perfect for it. White clouds broke up the endless blue sky as the late spring sunshine draped itself over the glossy black paintwork of the car. From every angle, the car looked just like it had done in countless bedroom posters for generations. To some, the air-cooled 911s are the purest of their design. A common link shared from its earliest days at the beginning of the 1960s up until the late 1990s. But this one is special.

It has been asked for by so many of our followers, we have been waiting for the right one to come along. The car is finished in gloss black with a black/red interior which looked incredible as the team jumped into the car. Then, without so much as a hesitation after the signature key was turned, the 3.2-litre flat-six spat into life with a satisfying crack before the synonymous rumble filled the Suffolk air. All of us that day knew this was going to be an incredible car.

Freddie and Hayley took the car up to our filming location to start shooting with the classic 911. As it pulled away, you could feel the car wanting to stretch its legs. The potential and promise of a driving experience unlike any other at your fingertips.

As the morning continued, the 911 ran faultlessly. Happily going from an idle to speed and back again over and over while Freddie got the exact shots he needed. On different roads around our shoot, the classic Porsche soaked up any bumps or ruts without so much as a wince or gritting of teeth for either the car or the driver. A short, flat out run or a long-legged cruise would suit this 911 down to the ground. It really is a car for all seasons.

Behind the Scenes – East Coast Mini Club Visit & Live Draw of the 1993 Rover Mini and 2012 Mercedes Benz SLK250 CDI

Over the bank holiday weekend, the Bridge Classic Cars team welcomed East Coast Mini Club to our restoration workshops in Suffolk.

The club were doing their annual charity run with this year’s run being in aid of the Addenbrookes Charitable Trust which had helped 2 of its members in need of their expert help. So, to help out the East Coast Mini club raised nearly £900 through a raffle and an auction to help their Transport Unit with fundraising.

After the meet was done, a few of the members stayed around for the live draw of our 1993 Rover Mini and 2012 Mercedes SLK250CDI. A few of the members even had tickets for the Mini!

Hayley and Freddie gave everyone joining in on the live stream a look around our competition building and the beautiful classics that we have in. We were also joined by our friend Simon’s all-electric Mini which has recently starred in a Discovery Channel series and appeared in a video with YouTuber PetrolPed.

But it was then time to find out who the very lucky new owners of the 1993 Rover Mini and 2012 Mercedes SLK250 CDI. Both had completely sold out before the draw and the Mercedes actually sold out nearly a week before its scheduled draw!

First, was the Mercedes. The pre-published entry list was checked and Hayley set the numbers in the Random Number Generator. And, with one single click, we found who the winner was. Number 3204 belonging to Andy Wells.

Then the car everyone in the room was waiting for. The 1993 Rover Mini.

As the entry list was checked and the number generator reset, the anticipation built. With a few words of good luck and a single click, it was done. The new owner of the Mini was Jake Lees with ticket number 614.

Behind the Scenes – Live Draw of the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal 1989 TVR S2 & 1990 Porsche 944 Turbo

Last night, the Bridge Classic Cars Competitions team and a load of our friends all got together to find the new lucky owners of two dream classics and one of them, was for a very special cause.

For the past few weeks, we have been raising much-needed funds in support of the DEC Ukrainian Humanitarian Appeal. This all started when a previous Bridge Classic Cars Competitions winner saw the situation in Ukraine coming to light after the invasion and the devastation and displacement it had caused to the people of Ukraine. So, Jar decided to get in touch and asked us to put the 1989 TVR S2 back into competition with 100% of the proceeds going directly every week to the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. Thanks to your help, support and involvement plus the help from amazing companies such as Hagerty UK, Car & Classic, Classic and Sportscar Magazine and countless others across the industry, at 7 pm last night we raised a total of just over £38,500!

An amazing amount that will go a long way to help those needlessly and senselessly caught up in the conflict/invasion.

The other dream classic to be won was the incredible 1990 Porsche 944 Turbo. This car has one of the most extensive history folders we have ever come across. Detailed correspondence from the previous owner with the specialist who undertook all work on the classic Porsche, parts lists, turbo specification, dyno printouts and, its feature in the April 2017 issue of Practical Classics magazine.

So, with everyone eagerly awaiting the draw, the team began by firing up the random number generator to find out just who the lucky new owners of these beauties were. First was the 944.

This was a very popular competition with nearly all of the 3888 tickets going in just over a week. As Hayley did a few test runs of the random number generator for everyone in the room and at everyone watching along on the live stream, the tension rose.

Hayley entered the criteria between 1 and 3888. With a single click and a whir of numbers on the big screen, it was decided. Ticket number 770. This belonged to Lee Brown. The new owner of the 1990 Porsche 944 Turbo.

Then, it was time to find out who had not only donated to the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal but also entered to win the 1989 TVR S2. Hayley reset the random number generator. And with a flash on the screen, the future of the car had been decided. It would now belong to Brian Swain with ticket 346.

Stablemates – Our 1974 Alfa Romeo Spider at Its New Home

The Bridge Classic Cars Competitions 1974 Alfa Romeo Spider has arrived at its new home with its winner Trevor and a very special stablemate for it to spend its future with.

The classic Alfa Romeo Spider will be sharing its life with a WW2 era Jeep which is part of Trevor’s collection. Well, now that’s quite the variety of cars for different occasions!

We wish Trevor all the best with the classic Alfa Romeo.

In Print – Our 1990 Porsche 944 Turbo in Modern Classics April 2017

As part of the giant history across three A4 ring binders that accompany our 1990 Porsche 944 Turbo, is a magazine. The April 2017 issue of Modern Classics features our very own 1990 944 Turbo!

The well-written and complimentary article regarding the underrated 1990s GT car is a lovely thing to read and features a lot of details about what had been done on the car in regards to its engine and running gear and how that added to the experience of the car. The write up on the car is based on whether or not the 944 (and 944 Turbo) were at the time a good investment for enthusiasts, to which we can confirm that this one especially is very much a drivers car!

They noted the handling on our 944 Turbo was made all the better by the M030 handling pack retrofitted onto the 944 and the wider Design 90 wheels allowing more grip in the corners than was achievable of standard S2 wheels.

The photos are also stunning taken for the article, they show just how vibrant the Guards Red paintwork is across the arrow-straight bodywork of the car and compliment the dark black interior.

We’re always interested to hear what writers in the industry have to say about our cars and especially when it’s a car that will soon be heading to its new owner through Bridge Classic Cars Competitions.

Behind the Scenes – Photoshoot with the 1990 Porsche 944 Turbo

The beautiful and mechanically superb 1990 Porsche 944 Turbo has been fully inspected, tested and assessed by the restoration workshop at Bridge Classic Cars. And, with a clean bill of health, it was time for the car to head out for its photoshoot.

The team took the 944 Turbo to our secure vehicle storage facility, The Hangar, to begin the shoot of the iconic 1990s GT car. This 944, is not like others. With a beautifully upgraded and rebuilt 2.5 litre turbocharged 4 cylinder engine, it now makes 320BHP and 380lbs/ft of torque! A serious jump in performance is complemented with upgraded running gear, brakes and suspension to make the car more usable and reliable.

The car is finished in quintessential Guards Red with black interior, and the bodywork along with its interior looked stunning in the early spring sun. The noise from the beautifully built engine found any stiff surface to bounce off and find its way back to the joy of the Bridge Classic Cars Competitions team. The car and the experience it gave was addictive.

Out & About – Taking the 1974 Alfa Romeo Spider Out For Lunch with Friends

The Bridge Classic Cars team had a lunch meeting with some friends of ours who turned up in a beautiful 911SC and a Mercedes R129, so we decided to take the perfect summer car. Our 1974 Alfa Romeo Spider

The Alfa Romeo Spider will be won tonight and is ready for its next owner to enjoy the summer weather. The team popped down to our local, the always good Ufford Crown. This gave the team a chance to stretch the legs of the wonderful drop-top classic Alfa ahead of its draw.

Behind the Scenes – Photoshoot with the 1993 Rover Mini Sprite

After having its inspection and being given a clean bill of health by the Bridge Classic Cars restoration workshop, it was time to pull our latest Bridge Classic Cars Competitions prize out and shoot some photos of it.

That’s right, the next competition from Bridge Classic Cars is this beautiful 1993 Rover Mini Sprite. An iconic and well adored classic that almost everyone has a connection to in some way or another. The happy little 1275cc 4-cylinder buzzes along and the sound from the stainless steel sports exhaust bounced off the trees and concrete angles at our secure storage facility as it was taken over to our shooting location.

The tiny wheelbase and wider wheels, thanks to its upgrade to the later Sportback specification, allowed the bright white classic Mini to change direction and talk back to the driver. Letting them know exactly what was going on beneath them.

Fourth Donation – Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal TVR S2

The team at Bridge Classic Cars Competitions have sent over the latest donation from our 1989 TVR S2 competition which is in aid of the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.

The total is now £31,000 which will be going directly to help support those who have been affected and displaced by the conflict unfolding across Ukraine. Every penny from this competition will be donated to the appeal and help the people of Ukraine.

Behind the Scenes – Live Draw of the 1966 Jaguar MkII & 1970 Morris Minor

Last night, the 31st March 2022, the Bridge Classic Cars Competitions team welcomed our largest ever studio audience to find out who the lucky winners of the 1966 Jaguar Mk2 and 1970 Morris Minor 100 were.

We had put out an open invitation to attend this live draw, as we have done in the past, and the response was amazing. Lots of classics braved the unpredictable weather to make the journey to the Bridge Classic Cars Suffolk HQ to watch the draw and some to find out if they were going home in the same classic they turned up in!

With everyone in, we could begin the live stream to the Bridge Classic Cars Facebook page where the rest of our guests had virtually joined us.

Hayley and Freddie took everyone on a tour around the competition building where we store mostly our competition but also a few personal projects as well as certain customer restorations. Working their way around, giving all those watching a few clues as to what is coming up next with Bridge Classic Cars Competitions.

Then, it was time for the main event. Finding out who had been assigned the winning numbers. As always, the entry lists to each competition are published at 630pm the day of the draw before the live stream at 7pm sharp. The number is decided at random using a Google Random Number Generator.

To begin, we always do a test run to make sure that the generator is working correctly. Everything was working just as it should, so now it was time to spin the wheel and see who the lucky pair were.

First up was the 1970 Morris Minor 1000. Hayley input the criteria of numbers for the generator to choose between and with a click of a button and a flurry of numbers rushing past on the big screen, the new owner of the Morris Minor had been chosen. 1250 – the ticket allocated to Neil Brinson.

Next was the turn of the 1966 Jaguar MkII. Again, the ticket number was to be selected from one of the tickets published on the entry list. This competition had entirely sold out several hours before the draw, so after resetting the Random Number Generator it was time to find out who had won this classic Jaguar. Hayley input the numbers to be selected from and just like that, we found the Jaguar’s new owner. Ticket 3500 which belonged to Anthony Roberts.

Third Donation – Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal TVR S2

The latest round of DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal donations has been sent off from Bridge Classic Cars Competitions to directly help those affected by the recent invasion.

As many know, the car was donated by previous winner Jar Joyce to help fundraise for the DEC’s Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal. So far, we have raised over £27,000 which will be used to help those affected and displaced by the conflict unfolding around them.

Behind the Scenes – Shooting our 1974 Alfa Romeo Series 2 Spider

The beautiful 1974 Alfa Romeo Series 2 Spider is the latest car from Bridge Classic Cars Competitions and it’s recently been out for its photoshoot after being given a clean bill of health from the Bridge Classic Cars restoration workshop.

The weather was perfect for capturing this iconic 1970s Italian convertible in its natural habitat, revving happily along in the bright sunshine. As Hayley got behind the wheel and fired up the fabulous 1.8-litre twin-cam 4 cylinder, the soundtrack matched the visuals. The car pulled away down the runway towards its photoshoot location.

The engine pulled strong and revved away to itself underneath the sun. It wasn’t just Hayley smiling while around this stunning Alfa Romeo, the rest of the Bridge Classic Cars Competitions car couldn’t help but be pulled in by its charm and character.
