The original piece was carefully taken apart by the team to assess its condition. After inspecting, the team had to remake the wooden pieces for the glovebox before then retrimming it black vinyl ready to go back on the car when the time comes.
The Bridge Classic Cars trim team have been busy stripping down and retrimming the front seats of the 1958 Jensen 541R.
The team have stripped the seats all the way back and removed any old padding or coverings to begin to remake the seats to the customer’s specifications. Each piece has been completely hand-cut and made for the seats to ensure the best possible fit and finish for the car.
These were then put together over the modern foam backings to finish.

The team have retrimmed the centre console/armrest on the classic Jensen. Each individual piece has been hand-cut and finished to give it the best possible fit. The team retrimmed the top piece in leather whilst the rest of the part is done in colour-matched vinyl as well as some of most of the others pieces from the interior of the car.
The trim shop at Bridge Classic Cars has fitted the brand new tonneau cover to the 1962 Morris Minor Convertible which recently arrived at the Bridge Classic Cars Suffolk HQ.
Our trimmer, Brian, carefully cut the necessary holes for the fasteners to go through after carefully measuring out the cover over the lowered hood on the car. This was to achieve the best possible fit for the classic Morris Minor and enhance the amazing condition this wonderful vintage Morris is in.
The removable hardtop on the 1991 Mercedes Benz SL300 has been taken off of the car and brought upstairs for the Bridge Classic Cars trim team to work their magic on.
The headliner has separated from the edges of the roof. So, Brian and Lydia will go through the whole piece and assess if it can be repaired or will need to be replaced.
The trim team at Bridge Classic Cars have worked on stripping down and refurbishing the dashboard of the 1958 Jensen 541R.
Everything from the instrument cluster to the wooden structures has been completely stripped back to their core components to be inspected, refurbished and reassembled as part of the car’s aesthetic restoration. Any metal pieces were completely stripped and cleaned down before being sprayed in hardwearing black.

Lydia, one of our trimmers, has worked on refining the patterns for both pieces and in terms of the hood cover revised the entire piece to envelope the entire hood frame within the piece. These have been checked and double-checked before being transferred onto mohair.
Once on the final material, Lydia could make tight-fitting pieces perfectly tailored to suit the pre-war convertible with a single zip running up the centre to close the interior once the clips are pressed onto the body.

Brian, one of our trimmers, made templates of the original pieces to begin work on carefully cutting and angling the new pieces of pine into the factory position. Each of these pieces were first rough cut before being refined to ensure the perfect fit as these pieces not only add a bit of support to the rear window opening but will also allow the trim team a place to attach the headliner once the interior of the car begins to go in.
Each of the two pieces which made up the beam are cut by hand and then offered up as no two are perfectly uniformed due to the handmade nature of the cars originally.
The in-house trim team at Bridge Classic Cars have been working on the foldable roof on the 1991 Nissan Figaro at our Suffolk HQ.
To begin with, the team had to remove the old roof from the rails and mechanisms. Also, the team had to remove the rear window which is bolted to the frame and folds down into the cubby with the covering.
Before removing the roof, the team masked up the edges so as to avoid any damage to the paint on the car.
Once everything had been removed and inspected, with several pieces cleaned up at the same time, the team could begin to get the new roof and window back into place. The rear window frame was bolted into the frame to act as a guide for the new soft roof covering to be test fit against.
The trim team at Bridge Classic Cars are continuing their work on the interior of the 1954 Bristol 405 which is in for restoration by the team at our Suffolk HQ.
The trim team have been carefully dismantling the interior of the classic Bristol in order to inspect and assess its condition and a plan for its restoration.
Once the team had stripped back the entire piece, they could see the condition of the framework underneath and support brackets. While the wooden frames will need attention, the metal brackets were in good enough shape for the team to sandblast and paint them in gloss black to renew them for the project. The foam will also be replaced along with the coverings which are being catalogued and stored for reference later in the project.
The interior trim team at Bridge Classic Cars have finished the brand-new bulkhead cover on the 1970 Bristol 411.
The team have handmade this piece to work alongside the work the restoration technicians have done as part of the car’s custom left-hand drive conversion. The edged bulkhead cover had to have its fasteners accurately placed onto the piece and then lined up with the pre-installed locks that hold the cover down.
The interior team at Bridge Classic Cars have been busy making new rear matting for the load bay of the 1980 Austin Mini Van.
The team begun by making a paper template to ensure the matting would fit up tightly to the rear arches and meet perfectly in the centre of the classic Mini. Once each side have been marked out and cut from paper, it could then be transferred onto the matting and cut to size.
The next step involved gently keying the load floor inside the car to give it the best surface to adhere to. Then, very carefully it was put into place with the adhesive and left to cure.
The trim team at Bridge Classic Cars have been working on fitting down the handmade carpet sets into the 1979 Arrow Ferrari Daytona.
The trim shop has spent a lot of time making sure that each individual piece of the interior fits perfectly and aligns just right with the pieces that join into it. For this, our trim team have test fit all of the pieces countless time making revisions and changes to ensure the whole interior works in its entirety.
With everything working together, the team began the process of getting the final parts of the carpet set and trim panels into place inside the classic Daytona replica.
The trim team at Bridge Classic Cars have been working on modifying and creating parts for the dash of the 1970 Bristol 411 for a left-hand drive conversion.
The dash cover and panel have been modified and stripped in order to work with the new placement of the ignition barrel and steering column. The ignition barrel also needed several small brackets made to reattach it to the column after the change over from right to left which after this was completed, meaning the whole piece could be recovered.
The team also handmade a new glovebox insert to work around the different bracketry and supports which now lay behind it.
The interior trim shop at Bridge Classic Cars have been working through several pieces from the interior of the 1980 Saab 99 Turbo in for restoration.
The original C Pillar caps had split, cracked and began to degrade so the trim team stripped the pieces back to the foam. Using the original coverings as templates, the trim team could make new coverings for the caps. The foam itself was also cleaned up before the new material was glued on and fitted to the pieces.

The team noted some small tears and holes in a few of the seats so created small patch pieces to lay over them and fix them into place. Although they’re not exactly the same colour, they’re the closest piece to the original that we have in stock for smaller pieces to be used as repairs and will stop the area around the damage from deteriorating any further.

Brian, one of our trimmers, has been working on shaping and putting together the fitted rear seats for the 1950s GT car. Each part of these rear seats is made by hand by our trim shop in-house. Every car is unique so each interior we do for a Jensen is also unique and fit specifically for that car.
This 541 is no exception. The rear seats have had their foams cut and shaped by hand to get the best fit and finish possible for the interior of the classic Jensen. Along with that, Brian has also remade and trimmed the ceiling pad to match.

Lydia had been working on entirely refurbishing the soft top for the Blaze Orange MGB. As she began to disassemble the piece, the metal railings literally started to crumble in her hands. So, with that, she worked on getting everything broken down into its components and went to our fabrication department to make new rails for the soft top.
Once these had been made and given back to Lydia, she could start to put the refurbished soft top back together and safely put into storage for when our body team have finished the metal repairs on the sports car.
