For a long time, we have been in the fortunate position to call former Vauxhall Managing Director, Stephen Norman, a friend of Bridge Classic Cars. While Stephen may have retired from the automotive industry a little while ago, we have always followed the progress of the position he once held.

That’s why we are pleased to hear that Vauxhall has welcomed back a familiar face with the appointment of Steve Catlin as its new Managing Director. After starting his automotive career at Vauxhall more than 20 years ago, Steve will now be leading the brand as it looks to help electrify Britain.

When Steve Catlin first arrived at Vauxhall, he worked as a Performance Analyst before working his way up to Retail Sales Director in 2012. Since then, he has held senior roles at Saab, SEAT, Audi, and, most recently, as Managing Director of Volvo Car Financial Services UK.

“It’s great to be back working with Vauxhall, which has always been a brand close to my heart. A lot has changed since I was last here and not just the décor, but the motor industry as a whole. However, Vauxhall has always stood for practical innovation with a distinctly British voice. Now, with a fully electric line-up and a clear sense of purpose, it’s a brilliant time to be part of the journey. I’m looking forward to building on the progress we’ve made and the exciting road ahead.”

His return to Vauxhall comes at a good time for the brand as it now offers an electric version of every car and van in its range, and sold more than 15,000 EVs in 2024 alone. Vauxhall also currently leads the UK in making electric and hybrid vehicles more accessible, offering the new Frontera in both electric and petrol hybrid forms for the same list price.

“Steve brings deep experience across the industry and a strong understanding of Vauxhall’s role in shaping the future of British mobility. Vauxhall, a home brand for Stellantis UK must return to growth and I am confident Steve will lead the teams in a positive trajectory.”
