Škoda has shown off its latest concept, an electric reinterpretation of the Favorit, the brand’s popular hatchback from the late 1980s. The new design aims to combine modern electric tech with nods to a car that once reshaped Škoda’s future.

The Favorit concept is the latest example in Škoda’s ongoing project to reimagine some of its most iconic models. This new concept joins the 200 RS, the classic 1203 van, and the original Voiturette in the reimagined group.

Back in the day, the original Favorit was developed behind the Iron Curtain with limited resources. It ended up being Škoda’s first real step towards global relevance, eventually catching the attention of Volkswagen.

Now, designer Ljudmil Slavov has revisited the Favorit with fresh eyes, applying Škoda’s Modern Solid design language while staying true to the essence of the original.

“I didn’t want to rely on current design elements like the Tech-Deck Face,” Slavov explains. “This is a tribute to the Favorit, so I carefully studied the original details, aiming to evolve and elevate them. Simplifying an already minimalistic shape into the Modern Solid style was genuinely challenging.”

The Favorit concept has a new face, with ultra-slim LED strips hidden behind semi-transparent covers. This is a clever reference to the oversized headlamps of the 1980s model. These covers don’t just hide the lights, though; they let them project personalised patterns, adding a layer of tech flair to the design.

While this all-electric Favorit won’t be in the showrooms, it sends a strong message about where Škoda is heading. More reimagined classics are expected to follow, keeping the spirit of Škoda’s design heritage alive as the brand moves into its next era.
