Wether its a classic Mini, a humble MGB, a family heirloom of a Woleseley or an ultra rare pre-war 1939 Jaguar SS100 – they all are given the same care and attention here at the Bridge Classic Cars restoration workshops in Suffolk.

Today on the ramp, our technician Jon, has been working his way through servicing the 1939 Jaguar SS100 as part of its post-summer maintenance before going back into storage over the winter. First on the list after the cars appraisal and brake teardown, Jon has worked his magic on the exhaust of the classic sports car. One of the gaskets from the downpipe had failed but the other side gasket was ok to reuse, so Jon worked his way through the system tightening and rechecked each join.

Whilst Jon was working on the exhaust system, he drained the engine oil and removed the oil filter too. As part of the oil drain, Jon always inspects the sump bung and oil filter for any evidence of issues with the straight-six. This, the oil cooler pipe and the filter housing were thoroughly cleaned out and refitted into the car (along with the gearbox and rear axle bungs after being refilled) as well as every bung was lockwired into place before all of the fluids (including the antifreeze) were replaced.
