Carrying on with the repairs to the 1991 Jaguar XJS V12, our restoration technician Jon has been hard at work to get the car back its former glory at the Bridge Classic Cars restoration HQ.
Jon has worked on cleaning up the downpipe flanges for an upcoming job on the cars exhaust system. Whilst he awaited to the exhaust parts, Jon got onto another job on the list – fixing the interior light. This involved tightening down the contacts are being repaired and tested before being fit back into the car and tested again.
As part of the work on the exhaust system of the XJS, Jon has roomed the offside section for further inspection. With this, he managed to shake alot of material out of the catalytic convertor.
”Fit new catalyst. Doesn’t line up quite right. Adjusted downpipes to open up. Test fit again. Much better. With Johns help, bolt in place and secure. Fit oxygen sensor and route wiring away from exhaust and steering. Remove mount from rear silencer and feed through rear axle frame. Refit mount and fit to mounts. Mount centre pipe and silencer. Seal flanges and secure. Refit rear wheels and lower to floor. Refit rear trailing arms and secure. Fit lockwire to bolts. Get off ramp.”
