The team have been working on getting the further repairs done to the 1989 TVR Tasmin. Jon, one of our amazing technicians, begun with working on the rear brakes of the 1980s V8 sports car.

”Clean nearside rear handbrake caliper. Fit new handbrake pads. Fit caliper and align pins. Bend spring plate to fit and secure pins. Adjust handbrake and fit split pins. Test handbrake, 4 to 5 clicks. Fit new service brake pads and fit pins and retainers. Strip front anti roll bar and remove link rod offside.”

”Remove anti roll bar completely. Remove offside link rod and fit new bushes. Fit new bushes to nearside link also. Refit link and fit split pin. Remount bar and secure. Empty brake fluid reservoirand fill withnew fluid. Bleed rear brakes and check for leaks. Top up fluid. Look into top rad hose catching bonnet when open. Use large cable ties to pull fan controller mounted in top hose, down and secure to rad frame. Test bonnet clears OK. Tape up hose and test, ok. Investigate heater fan not working. Access rear of switch a d check conne tions. Fan now works ut only on 1 speed and switch feels dodgy but works. Clean seat belts and work in and out to ease retraction mechanisms. Strip and remove aerial. Remove trim panel in rear of cabin and trace wire through to car.”

”Fit new aerial to nearside rear quarter panel. Align with body and secure. Connect wire and feed through into car. Tape up and secure original wiring for electric aerial. Pull up mast and test. Good signal. Put 1 aerial key on keyring and the other in glovebox.”

”Take outside and warm up. Fill with 10 ltrs E5 petrol. Bring back inside and investigate bad earth on rear lights. They were OK, so suspect it’s something I done when I disconnected aerial wiring. Remove panel inboot to access wiring. Found loom main earth disconnected near aerial. Reconnect and test, ok.”

Our in-house trimmer Lydia has also been working her magic on getting the new hood fitted to the TVR, initially this was going to be carried out when the car first arrived but due to a delay it has had to be done on the car at the same time as Jon carried out his repairs.
