Repairs on the 1978 MG Midget

The Bridge Classic Cars workshop team have been working their way through the list of jobs on the 1978 MG Midget. Our technician Jon has had the classic sports car up on his ramp to carry out the list of jobs he’s found.

”Strip air filter and blow out. Fit 2 new elements inside and secure case. Strip carbs in turn. Remove piston and suction chamber and clean thoroughly. Inspect float bowl, already clean inside. Set jet depths to approx 1mm. Operate choke and check jet returns to seat when choke disengaged, rebuild carb. Repeat process for other carb. Raise on ramp. Drain oil and filter and leave to drain. Remove rear wheels and strip brakes. Clean components to be re-used and clean out drums. Fit new wheel cylinder and connect. Remove halfshaft. Make new gasket and clean surfaces. Apply sealer to O ring and refit halfshaft and secure. Fit new shoes and connect up t hanbrake. Fit new oil filter and refit sump bung.”
