Our 1972 Rover P5 has been on the ramps here at the Bridge Classic Cars restoration HQ in Suffolk. Jon has been getting the interior lights rewired on the classic Rover before going on to restick the door seals which had come loose. After that, he could move onto the next repairs for the classic V8 saloon car.

‘Strip carbs and clean pistons and chambers. Set jet depths and rebuild. Run up and take outside. Warm up and tune. Carry out road test. Return and remove steering g wheel. Align to left and refit. Slacken dizzy and use timing light to adjust timing to 8’ BTDC (Before Top Dead Center). Carry out further road test and now seems all OK. Refit steering wheel centre. Raise on ramp and drain oil.

‘Refit sump bung and torque up. Fill with new oil and run up. Recheck level and then take outside to warm up. Check when hot, oil pressure light flickering still when under load at idle/hot.’
