Repairs on the 1952 MG YA

Our technician Jonn has been getting the repairs done to our 1962 MG YA while its in with the Bridge Classic Cars team at our Suffolk HQ.

‘Trace wiring to reverse lights. Found switch on dash thats wired into indicators. Check amd replace fuse. Check power to reverse switch and to light. No earth at light. Clean and tighten fixing and now Working. Secure wiring and refit components. Tighten connection to horn and test. Tidy wiring under bonnet. Check clutch pedal side to side play ut it’s in the shaft so leave as is. Refit carpet. Remove broken string from rear blind and replace. Free off nearside jack unit and test. Working now. Top up fluid. Offside rear unit weeping. Secure rear ashtrays in seats.’

‘Investigate interior lightnt working. Look at wiring diagram, then trace wiring on car. Check continuity to switch. Check power at switch OK. No power at light. Remove switch and test. Switch faulty. Raise and heat up e haust and knock in so doent touch engine. Free off nearside trafficator and test.’

‘Remove air filter and removecarb chamber and piston. Clean and set jet and refit. Wire brush offside sill box section where corroded and seam seal. Leave to dry then underseal. Unmask offside. Repeat or nearside and underseal and leave to dry overnight.’
