The gorgeous 1955 Jaguar XK140 is currently on the ramp here at the Bridge Classic Cars restoration HQ. Our restoration technician Jon, who prepares nearly all of our competition cars, has been casting his experienced eyes and years of knowledge on the classic Jaguar.

Here’s what he’s been:

”Attend to broken nearside exhaust mount. Remove underseal to access bolts and remove mount. Modify new mount by using old L shaped bracket. Drill and secure to new mount and fit to car. Disconnect battery earth’s. Prep and weld nearside chassis rail seam on offside rear. Dress weld and seam seal. Paint black when dry. Reconnect batteries. Refit battery cover. Strip front brakes. Clean back plates and build new shoes set. Fit new shoes and mount adjusters to new shoes. Centralise shoes and secure auto adjusters with split pins. Delip and clean drum and fit. Check free. Repeat for offside. Pump brake pedal when finished to settle brakes. Adjust handbrake cable and test. Refit wheels and torque up. Refit rear arch covers and all wheel trims.”

Strip and fitn ew door pin switches. Remove kick panels that are poorly fitted. Drill and resecure both kick panels. Check washer. Pump works but battery low. Put new jack and brace In boot. Check jump start point under offside wing. Check connection and which terminal is which. Mark plug to be sure. Replace offside rearbulb and check all functions, ok. Replace both wiper blades.
