Description

Congratulations to Chris Barratt, who won our 1969 Sunbeam Rapier.

The Sunbeam Rapier began its production run in 1955. The series 1 was a smooth and sophisticated coupe, while late in 1967, the radically redesigned Rapier saw a sportier-styled fastback coupe Rapier appear on the scene.

Finished in a beautiful deep red with complimenting black interior, our 1969 Sunbeam Rapier is stylish and purposeful with its scaled-down muscle-car look. Our 1969 Rapier is fitted with a 1.7-litre 4-cylinder engine (reading just 34491 miles) and 4-speed manual gearbox, a perfect pairing in this small sports coupe.

The car was imported from South Africa by Bridge Classic Cars. The car had spent some years out in South Africa taking part in several vintage rallies and road trips throughout its time there. The car is believed to have been restored by Sunbeam specialist Barney Curtis before his sad passing in 2018, with several upgrades done to the car such as the larger 14-inch wheels and new Twin Weber carburettor set-up which is documented in an article involving the car in the May 2019 edition of Cut & Thrust, a Sunbeam specific magazine.

Since its arrival at Bridge Classic Cars, the car has had a full workshop inspection with the team here carrying out some interior restoration, retrimming the centre console, glovebox and dash pad. The car also visited our Paint Shop to have its sills repainted red.

The car is supplied with a full UK registration as well as all relevant import paperwork detailing its journey from South Africa to the UK.
