Every classic car has its own unique story and this 1968 Morris Mini 850 MkII has an incredible story that Bridge Classic Cars wants you to become part of.
Built on the 20th of June 1968 and finished in Almond Green, just six days after rolling off the production line, this Mini began its journey to the picturesque island of Cyprus.
In 1974 Cyprus was invaded by Turkey. To protect the car, it was hidden away in a garage away. 41 years later, the car was uncovered, just as it had been left all those years before.
Handed over to a Cypriot specialist, the entire car was restored, ready to use on the road for the first time in nearly 4 decades. The car, to this day, still has its matching numbers engine and gearbox combination showing what is believed to be 10,354 original miles.
In 2017, the Mini was repatriated to its homeland. It arrived in the UK where it has been used sparingly.
From there, it has numerous works carried out by local specialist and friend of Bridge Classic Cars, Team C Racing. The cylinder head was resurfaced and valve guides fitted in 2019. Included in the extensive history file are parts invoices from known marque suppliers such a Mini Spares Centre as well as all of the paperwork pertaining to its export from Cyprus.
In a 2019 Valuation Certificate by the British Mini Club, it was noted as being ‘’A superb example of an increasingly rare Mk2 Mini Saloon. Restored to an excellent standard throughout’’.
With a story as rich and exciting as this, Bridge Classic Cars want to give you the chance of carrying on the tale of our 1968 Morris Mini 850 MkII. Pick up your tickets for a chance of becoming the new owner of this amazing classic and its wonderful story.
