Bridge Classic Cars Children’s Book Inspires Young Readers Through Classic Cars, History and Sustainability
Suffolk, UK – What began as a passion project to help inspire the next generation has grown into a successful educational initiative, with Rilee, The Little Red Car, now available in print and reaching young readers across the UK.
Created by the team at Bridge Classic Cars, the book, aimed at primary school children, combines storytelling, automotive history, friendship, kindness, and sustainability into an engaging children’s story inspired by the real-life restoration of a unique 120-year-old vehicle.
The story follows Rilee, a car from 1905, along with friends Luxy and Eco. Together, the characters introduce children to the idea that classic vehicles can play a role in a sustainable future. Luxy is a classic Fiat 500 converted to electric power, Eco runs on sustainable fuel, and Rilee runs on traditional petrol, as he would have done when he was first built.. Through their adventures, children discover that preserving history and encouraging innovation can co-exist.
The book forms part of the overall Bridge Classic Cars Kids project, which was launched to engage younger audiences with automotive history while encouraging conversations around environmental responsibility and the importance of preserving the past.
Since its launch, the project has expanded beyond the book itself. Earlier this year, Bridge Classic Cars successfully completed its Theatre in Education tour, bringing the story of Rilee to schools and young audiences through live performances, interactive workshops, and educational activities designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and learning.
Craig Ranson, Managing Director of Bridge Classic Cars and creator of Rilee
“History is one giant story that we are all part of. Every generation has a responsibility to preserve the best parts of the past while helping shape a better future. Rilee was created to help children understand that history matters, sustainability matters, and that the choices we make today will become part of tomorrow’s story. Seeing the book in the hands of young readers and watching children engage with the characters during our school tour has been incredibly rewarding.
My hope is that Rilee continues to inspire future generations to appreciate history, embrace innovation, and understand that even something as old as a classic car can have an important place in the future.”
The success of the book and school tour has further strengthened Bridge Classic Cars’ commitment to developing new educational resources that help make classic cars more accessible, relevant, and inspiring for primary school children.
Rilee, the Little Red Car, is available now through the Bridge Classic Cars website.
