Jonn continued work on our 1973 Porsche 914 by completing the fitting of the trims underneath. One screw bolt was cut down to the correct size and installed to replace a missing unit. A new nearside heat exchanger was mounted and secured, followed by the installation and securing of new ducting. The cable and clamp were then fitted, and with assistance from John operating the lever inside the car, both heat exchangers were checked to ensure they opened and closed properly.

The oil and filter were drained, and 250ml of oil was run through the system before being left to drain fully. A new filter and sump bung seal were then fitted, and the sump bung was torqued to 30Nm. Fresh oil was added, the engine was briefly run to circulate it, and the level was rechecked and topped up as needed.

Jonn also cleaned the earth point on the throttle mount. A new terminal was crimped onto the wire from the body earth and connected securely. A new indicator stalk was assembled using the old wiper stalk, and the indicator relay was traced and removed.

The switches were installed onto the column and connected, with all functions testing correctly, although the indicator cancel mechanism did not always engage reliably. The steering wheel was then refitted and secured, followed by the horn push and steering wheel centre, which were also refitted and tested.
