Jon, our classic car restoration technician, has been working on and checking over the 1975 MG B Roadster before it heads off to its new life with its excited expectant owner.

‘Carry out PDI. Stop lights not working. Interior light stays on. Handbrake needs adjusting. Washers not working. Unable to find locking wheel key. Fuel guage low or not reading correct. Nearside rear axle strap snapped. Handbrake needs adjusting.’

‘Check stop lights. Short out wiring and lights work, so need new switch. Remove rear axle strap. All the ones we have in are too short, so order new. Adjust handbrake. Grease all points. Lower to floor and check ha brake. Test fit new stop light switch. Crimp terminals to tighten. Not working. Check and replace fuse and now working.’

‘Tap and clean out thread and fit stop light switch and adjust. Test lights OK. Cable tie wiring. Oscar fitted new horn and washer pump. Tested OK. Jobs on job and are from previous time it was in, but raise and check rear axle oil, OK. Fuel pump is noisy for a bit but then quietens down. Carry out road test to fuel station. All OK just waiting for axle strap.’
