The OMODA 9 SHS, the flagship SUV of OMODA UK, has completed a 730-mile European road trip without refuelling or recharging along the way. The journey, which went through nine countries, actually performed better than the SUV’s WLTP-estimated 700-mile range, all on a single tank of fuel and one full battery charge.

Starting from Dover, the OMODA 9 drove through France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and Austria. The route included varying terrain and conditions from city congestion to alpine roads, so the powertrain and comfort underwent a thorough real-world test.

The OMODA 9 has a Super Hybrid System combining a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine, dual electric motors, and a 34.46 kWh battery. This setup produces 449 PS and 700 Nm of torque, giving the SUV a 0 to 62 mph time of 4.9 seconds. Drivers can switch between six drive modes to suit conditions ranging from urban traffic to high-speed autobahns.

The electric range is rated at 93 miles, with overall CO2 emissions as low as 38g/km. During the journey, the SUV had enough left in its 70-litre tank to keep going beyond the 730-mile mark.

Inside, the OMODA 9 focuses on what the brand calls “quiet luxury.” Features include a 24.6-inch curved display, reclining heated and ventilated seats, ambient lighting, PM3.0 air purification, and sound-insulated glass and tyres, all designed to make long-distance travel more comfortable.

There is also 660 litres of boot space that expands to 1,783 litres with the rear seats folded, so it’s definitely a very practical car.

The OMODA 9 SHS is priced from £44,990 and comes with a 7-year/100,000-mile warranty and an 8-year battery warranty. It’s now available through OMODA UK’s network of over 75 dealerships.
