The 1987 Maserati BiTurbo project is making moves forward to the first fire up. Our workshop manager John alongside our new technician Will have been working their way through the drivetrain to check, recheck and then check everything all over again. Will tracked down a wiring issue from the fuel tank moving forward to getting the fuel up to the rail and injectors. Along with that, Will could work on a fuel small jobs to check the timing on the car aswell as making sure all the pipework from the turbos into the intake plenum were hooked up correctly and tightened down.

After a few hours of checking, they attempted the first fire up which was cut short due to a metallic noise. Rather safe than sorry, Will and John have been diving deeper underneath the classic 1980s Italian sports GT.

Here’s what Will has been up to in his own words:

”Remove plenum chamber and inlet manifold, remove vacuum lines and fuel lines, clean up inlet manifold gasket mating surfaces, re-well seal gasket surfaces, put exciter wire on starter motor and crank over car to check it works. Re-fit inlet manifold and plenum chamber, refit vacuum lines and fuel lines, fit the turbo outlet pipes going to plenum chamber, fit the air box and air box pipes, glue on repaired air box breather pipe, fit cam box breather pipes, check fluid levels, clean air box parts and bow out air filter.”
