The 1969 Aston Martin DB6 Volante has made another step forward with our technician Ben test fitting and the installed the front grille but only after he had fitted up the set of electric fans in the front end of the iconic convertible.
Ben has also been working the brake system on the car:
”Last brake lines and more related to brakes. The new clutch and brake resovouir had fitting that were too large for the terminals on the lines so I had to disassemble the resovouir and switch out the new fittings for the old onto the new tank with new crush washers. The fittings were then torqued down.”
‘In these photos ”I have sand blasted and painted the exhaust manifolds, they have been repaired before and Clinton was going to be tasked with grinding down these welding and repairing but after he inspected the castings he decided it would be risky to tamper with the steel for fear for cracking the cast steel. I disassembled the fuel caps which are to be sent off for chrome, they will be assembled later when I have them back. The front bumpers also went on, I had to measure and cut new spacers as the bumpers are different shapes. The trim around the windscreen went on and was sealed to be wafer tight, the screen has also been cleaned and is ready to be fitted. New parts have arrived so it is time to start fitting the bits that will allow me to get some headway.”
